Job Description

Come Run with Sasquatch as a Supply Chain Intern during the summer of 2020 in Underwood, IA! As our supply chain intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through formal and informal training, managing projects, visiting multiple facilities, networking with fellow interns, and working with key Jack Link’s leaders and team members. At the completion of your internship, you will conduct a final presentation on your internship experience. 

As a Supply Chain Intern within Jack Link’s, you will work closely with multiple departments within the team, gaining formal and information training with the assigned project focused on improving performance specific to Walmart OTIF (on time and in full) initiative with monthly rotations.

There will be two primary areas of focus. 

  1. The supply chain intern will shadow department team members within transportation, warehousing and customer service to gain an understanding of the daily functions, roles and responsibilities within each department.
  2. The supply chain intern will be assigned a project(s) to drive cost out of the supply chain within these departments.

Warehouse Operations responsibilities: 

  • Shadow with operations manager, supervisors and leads 
  • Attend daily huddles 
  • Provide daily update reports (safety, staffing and volume outlook) 
  • Exposure to the warehouse management system 
  • Identification of improvement opportunities to improve Walmart’s picking and shipping accuracy 

  Transportation responsibilities: 

  • Shadow with transportation manager and load planners 
  • Provide on time delivery reporting and identification of root causes for late deliveries 
  • Exposure to transportation management systems 
  • Identification of solutions to meet Walmart’s on time delivery requirements 

 Customer Service responsibilities: 

  • Shadow with customer service manager and Sr. customer service rep 
  • Gain familiarity to all Jack Link’s products 
  • Perform order management duties working with sales and our customers 
  • Identification of improvement opportunities to improve Walmart’s case fill percentage 

  Measurable output: 

  • Intern will develop a final presentation on their experience highlighting project work, accomplishments, and insight on Jack Link’s as a company.
  • You will leave with a better understanding of the supply chain, the systems that connect it together and the collaboration needed to accomplish cost savings initiatives within their area of expertise. 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Academic focus in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance 
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritize and meet deadlines within specified time constraints 
  • Team player with a “can do” attitude 
  • Ability to adapt in a changing work environment 
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills 
  • Quick learner
