Job Description

Oversees all Supervisors and Team Members on the plant floor during a shift or in a department (RAW/Packaging). Plans, directs, and coordinates the work activities and resources necessary to accomplishes production goals. Communicates expectations to Supervisors; plan monitoring, and appraising results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Manages Supervisors and Team Members
  • Oversees the production and warehousing processes operations. Reviews schedules and adjusts schedules as needed.
  • Ensure planned Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) of efficiency and performance are met or exceeded.
  • Optimize resource utilization
  • Ensuring that the production is cost effective; Manage inventory and cost control.
  • Monitoring product standards and implementing quality-control programs;
  • Working with subordinate leaders to implement the company's policies and goals;
  • Ensure complete compliance to prescribed Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) training, along with company pre-requisite programs, Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and SSOP’s.

  • Manage the adherence to prescribed procedures to ensure first pass quality meets or exceeds planned goals.

Personnel

  • Ensure proper staffing is maintained, including interviewing and hiring new team members.

  • Ensure that all team members are adequately and properly trained in safety, sanitation procedures, chemical handling and GMP’s, etc.

  • Implement and monitor training for new hires and continuing training of current team members.

  • Reviewing the performance of subordinates; Track competencies of subordinates and provide leadership and development as required to achieve the objectives.

  • Maintain attendance records, counsel employees with poor attendance, and follow up with coaching/discipline as appropriate.

  • Appraise work performance: conduct appropriate reviews for team members; give coaching/discipline as appropriate in a consistent and timely manner.

  • Review, correct, and approve timekeeping tool to ensure team members are paid correctly each pay period.

  • Provides appropriate interpretation of company policies and safety procedures.

  • Safety

  • Ensuring that health and safety guidelines are followed;
  • Enforce all safety rules and company policies.

  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

 Quality

  • Ensure quality protocols are followed and openly communicated with QC and the Plant Manager in order to fix defects and ensure quality standards are consistently met. evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Maintains quality product by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

 

Leadership

  • Drives Lean Manufacturing Processes; team building, consistency in high quality, preventative maintenance, good work place conditions, productive work, etc.
  • Build and support a culture which values Personnel Safety and Food Safety.

  • Build and support a culture of openness and accountability within (and outside) the assigned department.

  • Demonstrate professionalism; encourage and insist on positive attitudes and behaviors from team members.

  • Encourage team member initiative and innovation, and show recognition for effort and achievement.

  • Create and cultivate positive work relationships at all levels

  • Communicate with peers, subordinates, and leaders in an effective, timely manner.

  • Collaborates with remote employees and work as part of a team.

  • Suggest improvements; continuously improve the quality of all support activities.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Required Education:         High School Diploma or GED*

 

Required Experience:       2 years** of experience in the food industry plus prior supervisory experience

 

Preferred:                          Bachelor’s Degree and 5 or more years of successful supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment

 

*A High School Diploma or GED is equivalent to two years of experience

**An Associate’s Degree or higher can be taken into consideration for 2 years of experience

 

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES:

 

Proven understanding of manufacturing operations in the food industry.

 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must work effectively with all levels of management and employees

 

Demonstrated effective leadership, problem solving, planning, presentation, and employee motivational skills.

Good computer skills including; Internet navigation, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Some Travel Required 10%
  • Management skill

  • Proven track record in managing production

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines, and stay within budget

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is a plant / office setting with varying degrees of temperatures and noise levels. Exposure to manufacturing equipment movement and wet / slippery floors. Travel may be required.
