Job Description

JYSK is seeking a Financial Reporting Accountant to join our Finance team on a permanent, full time basis. The position will be based at our head office in Coquitlam, BC. Reporting to Manager of Financial Reporting, the Financial Reporting Accountant will be responsible for financial accounting and periodic reporting activities and related tasks in a timely and professional manner. You will be assigned engagements that requires accounting experience and training. You will be responsible for preparing financial reports, performing research and analysis, maintaining the general ledger, performing account reconciliations, assisting with audit preparations, and carrying out other accounting duties as may be required.

The Role

  • Prepare journal entries in preparation for periodic full-cycle accounting and reporting (month end, quarter end and year end)
  • Prepare periodic departmental and regional income statements, financial reports and analyze actual financial results against the budget and previous year
  • Work closely with department and district managers on variance analysis and provide support as needed
  • Ensure all account reconciliations are performed accurately, timely and with proper supporting documents
  • Investigate and resolve the discrepancies resulting from internal processes and/or technical issues
  • Improve the efficiency of the reconciliation process
  • Prepare supporting documents for the monthly financial package to the board and/or bank
  • Work with AP team to ensure the expenses are coded accurately and on budget
  • Prepare supporting documents for interim/year end audit from the auditors
  • Assist in the other monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial close process as needed
  • Assist in the development of the annual budget and forecast
  • Perform ad hoc projects as needed during the year

What you bring to the role

  • Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • 2+ years of full-cycle accounting and/or financial reporting experience.
  • Experience working with accounting software (Microsoft Navision/Dynamics experience would be considered an asset).
  • Intermediate to advanced skills with Excel (Experience with V-Look ups, Pivot Tables, SUMIF formula etc.).
  • Experience in a high-volume multi-location organization with +25M revenue would be considered an asset.
  • CPA designation in progress would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and resolve issues before they develop.
  • Strong attention to detail and information accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organization.
