Job Description

Position requires thorough knowledge of civil design and engineering techniques, as well as CAD and graphics proficiency. Primary responsibility consists of production or modification of utility plans, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitoring work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and standards. Also responsible for planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. 

Essential Duties 

• Design and production of wet and dry utilities including, but not limited to, drainage, sewer, water, gas, oil, and telephone. 

• Accountable for the successful completion of engineering tasks as assigned by Senior Project Engineer/Discipline Design Lead. 

• Participation in Client meetings / Agency meetings / Contractor meetings 

• Address agency and internal comments and incorporate into drawings as appropriate. 

• Respond to Requests for Information (RFI) and other construction related items.

• Report to Senior Project Engineer/Discipline Design Lead

• Direct CAD Designers

• Work closely with engineers, other civil engineering firms, utility companies, builders, contractors, and agencies.

Qualifications

Knowledge of: technical and administrative aspects of civil engineering, design plan; all related codes, guidelines and regulations necessary for a variety of civil engineering projects; how to facilitate and communicate in a multidisciplinary environment. 

Skill/Ability to operate computers using standard word processing, spreadsheet, as well as related civil engineering software, including familiarity with Bentley Microstation and In-Roads; demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication and; understand and apply related federal, state, and city regulations to engineering design. 

Acceptable Experience and Training 

• Graduation from an accredited University with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field. 

• E.I.T. preferred – but not required 

• 3 - 5 years of experience in Civil Engineering design and construction support or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. 

• Experience in or familiarity with wet and dry utilities (sewer, water, storm drain and Third party coordination). 

• Strong leadership skills; highly organized; possesses the ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences; 

• Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
