Job Description

This role is part of a team of interim fundraising staff who will fill chapter vacancies for one or more months at a time with the objective of protecting revenue in chapters experiencing staff vacancies at critical points in the event fundraising timeline.

Through collaboration and coordination with national and regional teams and Chapter staff, this role provides expertise, leadership, and support to Chapters on an interim basis during the key weeks/months leading up to their fundraising events/campaigns. Chapter assignments will not be static, but rather, will be for a few Chapters at a time, based on vacancies.

This role serves the evolving and growing needs of a complex, Development Operations department:

  • Provides critical operational leadership and support to multiple Chapters with vacancies of staff providing support in the lead-up to fundraising events.  
  • Partners with the Director of Program Resources to assess the event risk and develop and execute a short-term plan that will ensure event success.
  • Develops and manages pilot of centralized auction management for multiple chapters.
  • Delivers Chapter Operations training to Development Assistants and Coordinators.
  • Provides diverse administrative duties for their assigned Chapters, including managing supporting solicitations, tracking and acknowledging donations, ordering print collateral and other materials, data entry, and more.
  • Ensures timely and accurate daily usage of CRM to document activities with donors and volunteers.
  • Acts as liaison with IT, Finance, Facilities, and other national departments as needed for their assigned Chapters.
  • Collaborates and integrates effectively with all chapter staff to provide on-demand support.
  • Works with all applicable online tools with emphasis on tracking of all significant plans, opportunities, and activities in the Salesforce CRM database.
  • Represents the best interests, professionalism, and integrity of JDRF in all activities and relationships through a unified message of JDRF's mission and a commitment to organizational standards and leadership by personal example.
  • Helps develop a systematic approach for stepping into vacancies, quickly assessing the areas of greatest risk and opportunity, and executing accordingly.
  • Proactively communicates with the relevant Chapter staff, Executive Director, and Program Partners.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.  

Qualifications

  • 4 years’ work experience preferably including fundraising or relevant business/volunteer experience in matrixed organization(s) in the disease space, with a chapter-based, event heavy history.
  • Experience and knowledge of both special event and non-event fundraising activities (major gifts, stewardship, etc.).
  • Proficiency with fundraising systems – Luminate Online, Greater Giving preferred – as well as Salesforce CRM
  • Self-starter while also being collaborative and an amazing team player!
  • Highly effective oral and written communication skills; ability to work closely with teams and across functional areas; proactively communicate.
  • Effectively establish priorities and work in a fast-paced environment. Highly efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated competency when handling diversified assignments.
  • Team player with the ability to interface with all levels of staff, volunteers and vendors.
  • Superior active listening, observation, analytical, and problem recognition and solving skills.
  • Ability to work and make judgments independently and take initiative.
  • Significant computer literacy (MS Office and CRM systems).
  • College Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time, as per the needs of the programs, Chapters and events.

Additional Information

Target Salary: $45-$60K
