Job Description

The Development Director will play an integral role in the strategy and day-to-day execution of key integrated fundraising efforts for the Chapter with a focus on event oversight, corporate partnerships, pipeline development and individual giving strategy in the mid-level to major gift range.  Comprised of a seven-person staff team and a Chapter footprint that includes Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, our work must be prioritized and aligned with mission impact opportunities. The Chapter office is currently located in Denver.   

The Development Director will manage, cultivate, and steward a portfolio of individual donors and fundraisers, corporate partners, and other key stakeholders in partnership with the Executive Director and Market Director to help drive the Chapter’s goals. He/she/they will serve as the Signature Event (Gala) staff lead, supporting collaborative, strategic development planning and tactical execution; and will drive success for peer to peer (P2P) fundraising programs (One Walk, Ride, Team JDRF, and JDRF My Way) through the management of the P2P staff team. A commitment to the moves management process and use of CRM is critical.

This position includes management of a Development Manager and Senior Development Manager, as well as stewardship of highly engaged volunteers and community board members throughout the chapter.  

This role may be a home-based/telecommuter or in-office hybrid structured position (depending upon individual’s location). This will require comfort with, and confidence in, high performance execution in a non-office or occasionally-in-office environment, with significant direct staff and supporter work accomplished through video teleconferencing and other digital means.   Chapter Office visits and other in-person staff, volunteer and community gatherings throughout the Chapter geography will be required.  On-site event participation will also be required as assigned. Residence within the Chapter geography is essential.

Responsibilities
•    Maintain a solid understanding of JDRF’s mission and research therapeutics.
•    In partnership with the Executive Director, Market Director, and Chapter and Regional staff, manage the direction of the Chapter’s individual giving program(s) to grow the pipeline  
•    Provide strategic direction and execution support for Chapter functional leads where substantial individual giving plays a key role
•    Manage CRM / donor database input to plan, track and analyze results of development efforts
•    Support annual budget development, planning, implementation, and evaluation
•    Lead and/or support the coordination of fundraising and non-fundraising efforts as guided by the Executive Director, with strong collaboration to all Chapter staff as well as the Regional and National resource teams, and volunteer leadership.  
•    Lead and/or support the development and execution of plans for assigned projects, including goals, objectives, and follow-up.  
•    Partner with the Executive Director, Chapter staff and leadership volunteers to identify, solicit, recruit, and develop additional committee volunteers, as assigned.
•    Comply with JDRF’s financial policies and procedures.  Maintain accurate and complete financial records as required.      
•    Plan and coordinate meetings, agendas, and activities as requested.  Prepare PowerPoint presentations and meeting support materials as assigned.  
•    Ensure the confidentiality and security of all proprietary information.
•    Perform all other responsibilities and projects as assigned by her/his immediate supervisor and/or senior management
•    Accountable for meeting deadlines, responding to volunteers, Market Director, Executive Director, and other Chapter requests.
 

Qualifications

•    At least six years of fundraising experience, including events
•    At least three years in a supervisory capacity
•    CRM database knowledge, Salesforce preferred
•    Experience with event management software, Greater Giving and Luminate online preferred
•    Self-starter, with the ability to collaborate as a team player
•    Team player who can achieve individual objectives and support those of the entire chapter team.
•    Works well within a matrix structure where more than one individual is providing guidance, feedback, counsel and support.
•    Self-motivated and able to successfully work on projects independently
•    Strong verbal and written communication. 
•    Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
•    Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers
•    Ability to create and manage processes that enhances efficiency of staff work while allowing for donor centricity.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint) 
•    Detail-oriented  
•    Ability to travel within the chapter footprint. Occasional evening and weekend work as needed.

Target Range: $74-$86K
