Job Description

Summary

Reporting to the Vice President, Field Development, the Regional Director is responsible for the leadership and management of a region covering the Northeastern and Midwestern states. This individual is charged with executing JDRF strategies for creating mission funding, galvanizing supporters, and diversifying and growing revenue.  The position serves in a critical leadership role with the Field Development team, as well as interfacing with other key departments to ensure the field structure is equipped to drive results across communities the organization serves. In addition, they will work across departments on integrated, targeted and innovative problem solving that best serves the attainment of local goals in mission impact, revenue growth and increased supporters.

This individual will work with chapter Executive Directors, other chapter staff leaders and community volunteers to serve and support all field staff in holistic portfolio management to meet and exceed revenue and mission goals.  They will provide direct management to chapter Executive Directors assigned to the region while fostering a culture of high performance and accountability. In addition, they will lead the field team to enable each business unit to meet and exceed revenue goals while serving and engaging JDRF constituents and stakeholders with a special emphasis on board development, volunteer partnership, and donor engagement. Will work closely with the Vice President, Field Development and other JDRF leaders to lead and manage change required to increase revenue and efficiency.

This position is expected to resolve complex problems successfully and in a timely manner, and communicate clearly, and effectively. These decisions have an impact on various processes and locations, thus a need to respond both strategically and nimbly. This role will need to provide and analyze information and make recommendations to the Vice President, Field Development.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute strategic revenue plans to drive profitable, diversified, and sustainable year-over-year growth in region, and partner with the National mission team to align local and national mission impact strategy and scale at the local level. 
  • Drive collaboration among Executive Directors, Regional and National teams, and volunteer leadership to develop program strategies based on local communities and demographics to increase revenue opportunities as well as protect revenue in communities undergoing staff transition.
  • Manages, coaches, and develops direct reports, ensuring that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountabilities are well-defined in the functions of stewardship, prospect management, development communications, foundation relations and innovation/ideation.
  • Monitor Regional P&L and partner with VP, Field Development as needed to identify areas of cost containment. Guide the development and assessment of the region’s annual and monthly budgets and ensure accurate financial forecasts.
  • Participate as an ad-hoc members of various department teams across the organization to proactively identify and anticipate change management and internal communication needs that impact the field.
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments to identify, implement, and improve workflow management practices and processes, as well as identify and improve integration among Chapters, National Office, and volunteer resources within the field.
  • Applies extensive knowledge of development practices and disciplines in the areas of process, policy, metrics, resource utilization while operationalizing best practices to garner greater efficiencies and effectiveness.
  • Actively demonstrates and cascades the enterprise-wide mindsets: integrity, collaboration, and stewardship.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA or higher or equivalent experience, plus a preferred minimum of 10 years success in a field-based fundraising organization as well as leading multi-disciplined team in achieving organizational revenue goals.  A minimum of 5 years preferred in a supervisory capacity.
  • Proven success record of accomplishment with achieving revenue targets preferably while working within a matrix organization.
  • Exhibits the following traits: Leadership, Diplomacy, Decision-making and solutioning ability, Financial acumen, Organization, Flexibility, Strategic thinking.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of collaborative leadership, management, coaching and development of staff at all levels. 
  • Proficient in Salesforce and MS Suite.
  • Analytical skills to track progress toward goals.
  • Desire to work in a team-based environment; able to work with others to achieve goals.
  • Ability to create consensus among cross-functional teams and bring closure to projects/initiatives.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation/communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to creatively find solutions to problems and analyze feedback to create best practices by partnering with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of the time.
