The Capital Chapter plays a vital role in JDRF’s success, with annual revenues of around $5.1 million. The Chapter has a strong Board of Directors as well as volunteers who are actively engaged and passionate supporters of JDRF.

Job Description

This is a part-time temporary position requiring 30-35 hours per week for approximately 6 months, with the possiblity of extension.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support and maintain the vision, mission, priorities, and guiding principles of JDRF.  Understand the strategic direction and purpose of the organization.
  • Provide administrative support to chapter development staff and volunteers by assisting in ongoing office, special event planning and chapter fundraising activities.
  • Implement logistics for Chapter Walks, Rides, Gala, Real Estate Games and Outreach Events.
  • Assist in Chapter volunteer recruitment and retention. Create presentations as needed and maintain tracking system.
  • Develop timelines and systems to improve the distribution of materials and effectively manage tasks for all special events.
  • Support reporting and data management needs. 
  • Partner with staff to review expenses and make cost-effective vendor recommendations.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of proprietary information.
  • Perform all other responsibilities and projects as assigned by his/her immediate supervisor and senior management.
     

Qualifications

  • College graduate preferred.
  • Entry level or one (1+) years of office experience required.
  • Experience working with volunteers and in handling the logistics of special events.
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access).  Experience using databases a plus.
  • Ability to learn new computer software programs.
  • Development and preparation of presentations.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Effectively multi-task, establishes priorities, and work in a fast paced environment.  Highly efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Active listening and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to travel locally required.  Occasional overnight travel as needed.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work required as needed.
