Job Description

JDRF Rocky Mountain Chapter’s Development Manager role is a great opportunity to join a strong Chapter team and work closely with the Development Director, Executive Director, regional and national staff teams; and an outstanding group of local volunteer leadership to grow peer-to-peer revenue and increase the reach and impact of JDRF.

The Development Manager will manage, evaluate, and expand peer-to-peer campaigns (including walk, ride and challenge programs) that build and strengthen links to potential and existing volunteers and donors. He or she will grow the Chapter’s revenue through increased corporate, individual, volunteer, and other community involvement; and will organize and coordinate appropriate committees with volunteers to expand fundraising initiatives.  

Key responsibilities include:
•    Serve as a key staff leader in implementing the strategic direction and purpose of the Chapter and JDRF, including a donor-centered approach that embraces a shared-value-strategy. Collaborate with an outstanding team of local staff as well as national/regional staff resources to ensure consistent revenue growth and success across peer-to-peer campaigns

•    Maximize revenue and achieve fundraising goals through the active recruitment and stewardship of returning family and corporate teams for JDRF One Walk in Denver and Colorado Springs; and individual and corporate participants in the JDRF Ride and Challenge programs. 

•    Alongside the Chapter team, help develop and implement strategies for greater Chapter and fundraising activities to sustain continued growth, maximum penetration of core market areas and opportunities for expansion where appropriate.

•    Provide management and active leadership for Chapter development activities such as corporate partnership development, volunteer leadership development and marketing.

•    Identify, build, and steward relationships with community, civic and corporate leaders as an integral part of volunteer and donor prospect development and engagement in JDRF activities. 

•    Manage and continually develop assigned volunteer committees providing leadership, cultivation, acknowledgement, material support, and assistance in building and implementing committee plans.

•    Identify and cultivate potential new volunteer leaders. Make recommendations about volunteer leadership development opportunities to the greater Chapter Team. 

•    Establish, evaluate and maintain standards for all JDRF peer-to-peer events, including the Denver and Colorado Springs JDRF One Walks; JDRF Ride program; and JDRF Challenge program. In partnership with the development team, develop an annual plan for each of the programs including financial goals, objectives and calendar of activity.

•    Maintain accurate and complete financial records for campaigns and, alongside the Chapter team, provide oversight to ensure that the logistics and budget/timelines are met. 

•    Utilize JDRF CRM to ensure accurate recording and tracking of information in database, file system, and/or records. Create, update, and revise as needed.

•    Assist as directed in identifying, cultivating and stewarding major donors, alongside Chapter Team. 

•    Ensure personal accountability for meeting deadlines and responding to external and internal requests. 

•    Maintain an integrated and up to date understanding of JDRF’s mission and research priorities and be able to effectively communicate them to constituents
 

Qualifications

•    Four+ years of fundraising experience or relevant business experience. 
•    Knowledge and demonstration of success of both special event and non-event fundraising (individual donors, corporate partnerships, etc.) is a must, including event planning and logistics; volunteer identification, recruitment, management and stewardship; and resource allocation.
•    Must be driven and dynamic while also being collaborative and a team player, able to work and make judgments independently and take initiative. Well-disciplined and a self-starter that is extremely resourceful.
•    Effectively multi-task, establish priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment. Highly efficient in time management and able to meet multiple deadlines under pressure.
•    Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. 
•    Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.
•    Significant computer literacy, with preferred experience in CRM systems
•    Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience required.
•    Ability to travel locally (and occasionally Nationally) is required. Occasional evening and weekend work required.
