Job Description

The Development Coordinator role is an opportunity to join a strong Central Ohio Chapter team and work closely with the Executive Director and local leadership, regional teams and an outstanding group of volunteers to increase the reach and impact of the Chapter. 

The Development Coordinator position is a fundraising and development position and may supervise volunteers for assigned responsibilities. The position includes fundraising, developing, coordinating and implementing events, office administrative tasks, working with volunteers on a regular basis and helping to expand assigned activities within the comprehensive development areas of the chapter. This position does require some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support and maintain the mission, vision and values of JDRF. Understand the strategic direction of the organization and support the Chapter’s fundraising strategies and business needs.
  • Promote fundraising for assigned areas of core events (Walk, Gala & Summit), and lead the JDRF Ride to Cure Diabetes program, as well as the Challenge/Endurance program, for the chapter.
  • Network with the Ride & Challenge/Endurance resource team and other JDRF chapters to discuss best practices and share new ideas.
  •  Assist with the key peer-to-peer (Walk) & signature events (Gala) programs in collaboration with the chapter lead, resource team(s) & volunteer leadership.
  • Recruit & coordinate capable volunteers for the chapter & manage interns (as appropriate).
  • Manage and maintain accurate and complete financial records for the chapter as a whole. 
  • Submit reports to the chapter executive director, chapter staff/team and JDRF’s National staff.
  • Assist with the logistics and budget/timelines are met for each applicable event.
  • Office financials, invoicing, processing deposits, processing payments, acknowledgment letters, ordering office supplies, and so forth to ensure that the chapter is audit compliant.
  • Collaborate with chapter staff/team to ensure the critical growth and success of the chapter.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

Qualifications

  • College degree preferred or equivalent experience required. 
  • Three+ (3+) years of office experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Prior fundraising experience preferred. 
  • Experience in organizing and planning special fundraising events. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills required. Proficiency with computer programs is required.
  • Must be a self-starter while also being collaborative and an amazing team player!
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures, such as coordination of people and resources, planning, and resource allocation, as well as ability to develop presentations, reports, and business correspondence, manage files and records, and coordinate other office procedures. 
  • Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Active listening, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effectively multi-task, establish priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment. Highly efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure. Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel locally required. Occasional evening and weekend work required as needed.
