Job Description

Organize, implement and assist with the planning, implementation and expansion of all development activities.  Execute job assignments to ensure that the development and fundraising priorities of JDRF are incorporated into fundraising and development goals and objectives.  Understand the National, Regional and Chapter activities, operations, policies, and procedures to perform all duties and achieve goals and objectives.

Support and maintain the vision, mission, priorities, and guiding principles of JDRF.  Understand the strategic direction and purpose of the organization.

Support/assist executive director and development staff in all aspects of development coordination.

Assist with the coordination of chapter volunteer recruitment and retention to fill the chapter’s needs for assigned special events, committees and community outreach programs.

Develop information/task timelines and systems to improve communication and effectively manage tasks for all special events.

Support reporting and data management needs.

Attend event planning sessions to support planning, execution, and responsibilities setting, as well as capturing volunteer needs to ensure they are appropriately managed.

Serve as key contact for volunteers. 

Develop and build outreach program components with a focus on outreach support and education event planning and coordination.

Work in conjunction with other development staff as needed to ensure Outreach presence and impact at all chapter events.

 Work with Outreach Volunteers to facilitate Bag of Hope distribution and reporting.

Assist families in development of JDRF Walk Teams and chapter overall fundraising efforts.

Familiar with all JDRF internal Outreach and related resources and publications.

Create and maintain a strong online presence for our company through social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. Implement online marketing strategies through social media accounts and our website.

Provide administrative support and/or collaborate with other staff members to insure staff has all the administrative support required to help facilitate fundraising goals and office needs.

Review expenses and make cost-effective vendor recommendations for events and office services in partnership with staff and volunteer leadership.

Insure event expenses are coded to appropriate account and event.

Oversee the preparation of all financial reporting and record keeping. Ensure that the chapter is complying with JDRF Accounting Manual and audit guidelines. Provide information to chapter Executive Director for the preparation of reports to the Board and the national office including monthly profit/loss statements and the quarterly major gift report.

Work with Executive Director to ensure Chapter achieves no significant or repeat violations during Chapter internal audit.

Ensure the confidentiality and security of proprietary information

Qualifications

College graduate preferred.  Two+ (2+ ) years of office experience required.  Experience working with volunteers and in handling the logistics of special events.   

Computer proficient in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Access).  Experience using databases a plus.

Ability to learn new computer software programs.

Development and preparation of presentations.

Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills.

Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.

Experience working with volunteers and in handling the logistics of special events.

Expertise in multiple social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and beyond. Ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video) through social media channels to help support JDRF awareness and fundraising efforts.

A team player that has the ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.  Must develop and maintain relationships.

Effectively multi-task, establishes priorities, and work in a fast paced environment.  Highly efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure.

Access and desktop publishing experience is preferred.

Active listening and problem solving skills.
