Job Description

The Development Manager is responsible for overseeing the management and financial growth for peer-to-peer fundraising efforts, including the JDRF One Walk. The Development Manager will be the relationship manager for Walk Committees supporting these events, and will have responsibility for developing leadership structures. The Development Manager will manage, evaluate, and expand campaigns that build and strengthen links to potential and existing volunteers and donors and grow the Chapter’s revenue through increased corporate, individual, volunteer, and other community involvement. He or she will organize and coordinate appropriate committees with volunteers to expand fundraising and non-fundraising programs. A thorough understanding of JDRF operations, policies, and procedures is essential, as is a solid background in relational donor development. The position requires a strong, collaborative leader who is outcomes driven.

This position is located in the Worthington, OH office.  The position manages the JDRF One Walk and the Outreach program for the chapter.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key staff member in implementing the strategic direction and purpose of the Chapter. Collaborate with an outstanding team of local staff as well as national/regional staff resources to ensure the Chapter’s growth and success, discuss best practices, and share new ideas.
  • Family/Corporate/School Team Management
    • Meet registration and fundraising retention goals for returning family and/or school teams.
    • Assist with corporate teams as needed.
    • Meet registration and fundraising goals for new family, corporate and/or school teams.
    • In person meeting with all family, corporate and/or school teams as appropriate.
    • Moves management development through CRM.
  • Donor Cultivation
    • Cultivate relationships with donors, volunteers, families, and companies throughout the year.
    • Identify new prospects for the Central Ohio One Walk.
  • Volunteer Management
    • Work with committee to steward family teams, providing on-going support and maintaining high level of contact.
  • Sponsorship
    • In coordination with the Executive Director, volunteer leadership and committees, identify and cultivate new corporate and individual sponsorship partners for chapter events and for the chapter as a whole.
    • In coordination with the Executive Director, volunteer leadership and committees, cultivate, steward and develop growth in returning corporate and individual chapter sponsorship partners.
  • Procurement
    • In coordination with committee, procure auction items for Central Ohio Promise Ball.
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records for all corporate and individual sponsorship partners.
  • Maintain standards for all events (One Walk) and non-events programs (Outreach) established at the National level.
  • Accountable for meeting deadlines, responding to volunteers and other department requests.
  • Network with the resource team and other JDRF chapters to discuss best practices and share new ideas.
  • Collaborate with chapter staff to ensure the critical growth and success of the chapter.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of fundraising experience or relevant business/volunteer experience. 
  • Knowledge of both special event and non-event fundraising activities (major gifts, stewardship, etc.) is a must.
  • Must be a self-starter while also being collaborative and an amazing team player!
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.
  • Significant computer literacy.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience required.
  • Ability to travel within Central Ohio required. Evening and weekend work required as needed.
