Job Description

The Development Coordinator role is an opportunity to join a strong chapter team that has recently celebrated a number of successes including record fundraising achievement. This position is an integral part of the chapter staff team of seven, and will work closely with fellow members of the staff, along with the chapter’s network of volunteers, to increase the reach and impact of the Chapter. 

This position is responsible for the chapter’s volunteer engagement and community events activities, as well as working in close partnership with each fellow member of the chapter staff team in executing other fundraising activities, such as silent auctions. This position also takes the lead role with planning the chapter’s annual Tee it Up for Type One golf outing and One Awards ceremony.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the chapter’s volunteer engagement activities, including the recruitment, vetting and placement of new volunteers, volunteer appreciation and retention for existing volunteers, and overseeing day-of volunteer needs for the chapter’s key events.
  • Manage chapter community events, which includes leadership of the Dayton Action Council and wraparound events for walk, ride and gala.
  • Manage the administrative process for silent auctions for the Cincinnatian of the Year Gala, golf outing, and Bourbon & BowTie Bash. This includes procurement, categorization, packaging and entry.
  • Coordinate and execute the annual JDRF Southwest Ohio One Awards ceremony in December to recognize key fundraisers and volunteers across all chapter programs.
  • Coordinate and execute the annual Tee it Up for Type One golf outing in the early fall.
  • Oversee volunteer engagement in the northern chapter region through leadership of the Dayton Action Council.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with a minimum of 2-3 years of fundraising experience or relevant business/volunteer experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Proficiency with computer programs is required.
  • Must have a general understanding of fundraising and organizing community initiatives.
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures and experience with computer systems and databases. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Effectively able to multi-task, establish priorities and work in a fast paced and constantly changing environment. Highly efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure. 
  • Ability to travel locally required. Occasional overnight travel as needed.
  • Evening and weekend work is a requirement in this position, but there is flexibility with comp time and overtime to compensate. 
  • Must be a self-starter while also being collaborative and an amazing team player!
