Job Description

The Development Manager role is a great opportunity to join a strong Austin Chapter team and work closely with the Executive Director and local leadership, regional teams and an outstanding group of volunteers to increase the reach and impact of the Chapter. 

The Development Manager will manage, evaluate, and expand campaigns that build and strengthen links to potential and existing volunteers and donors and grow the Austin Chapter’s revenue through increased corporate, individual, volunteer, and other community involvement. He or she will organize and coordinate appropriate committees with volunteers to expand fundraising and non-fundraising programs.  

Responsibilities include:

  • Support and maintain the vision, mission, priorities, strategic direction and guiding principles of JDRF.  
  • Formulate, implement, and lead strategies and tactics for chapter fundraising and development activities to sustain continued growth, maximum penetration of core market areas, and opportunities for expansion
  • In partnership with the Executive Director manage the chapter’s corporate partnership program in order to grow the corporate prospect pipeline.
  • In partnership with the Executive Director, plan, build, and manage the Chapter and Event Corporate Committee(s). Assist in the identification, cultivation, and stewardship of key volunteer leadership including assigned corporate committee members. 
  • Responsible for the OneWalk Sponsorship Revenue; recruiting and stewarding new and existing partners.
  • Responsible for the OneWalk Corporate Teams Revenue; continued recruitment, stewardship, and logistics of existing teams and recruitment and onboarding of new corporate teams.
  • Responsible for the Gala (OneParty) Sponsorship & Table Sales Revenue; recruiting and stewarding new and existing partners.
  • In partnership with the National Corporate team, steward and execute the National Corporate Partners in their campaigns and local sponsorships.
  • Oversee and ensure fulfillment of sponsorship benefits and stewardship activities for all corporate supporters.
  • Responsible for oversight and fundraising for all Chapter Third Party Events.
  • Oversee, plan, and execute the volunteer program for the OneWalk and OneParty Gala, and other chapter activities as needed.
  • Establish a network and represent the organization in professional societies/organizations.
  • Research and identify prospective foundation and grant prospects and write/assist in grant proposals.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of JDRF’s mission and research strategy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by his/her immediate supervisor.
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required. 
  • 4+ years of relevant fundraising/business experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • Volunteer and Committee management experience preferred.
  • Understanding of computer systems and databases.  Proficient in Microsoft Office. 
  • Able to effectively multi-task, establish priorities, and work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.  
  • Team player that has the ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.  
  • Exceptional management, leadership, and team-building skills.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.  
  • Excellent written, oral, and communication skills.  
  • Superior active listening, observation, analytical, and problem recognition and solving skills.  
  • Ability to work and make judgments independently and take initiative.  Well-disciplined and a self-starter that is extremely resourceful.
  • Ability to travel locally required. Occasional overnight travel as needed.  Occasional evening and weekend work required as needed.
