The Indiana State Chapter plays a vital role in JDRF’s success, with annual revenues of around $3M. The Chapter has a strong Board of Directors as well as volunteers who are actively engaged and passionate supporters of JDRF.

Job Description

The Development Coordinator role is an opportunity to join a strong Chapter team and work closely with the Development Director, Executive Director and local leadership, regional teams and an outstanding group of volunteers to increase the reach and impact of the Chapter. 

The Development Coordinator will organize, coordinate, implement and expand a variety of the Chapter’s programs, events and development activities that build and strengthen links to potential and existing volunteers and donors and that grow the Chapter’s revenue through corporate, individual, volunteer, and other community involvement. The development coordinator will also be the lead on chapter marketing, including social media, website content and chapter communications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support and maintain the vision, mission, priorities, and guiding principles of JDRF. 
  • Understand the strategic direction and purpose of the organization and support the Chapter’s fundraising strategies and business needs.
  • Serve as a positive, passionate, enthusiastic, knowledgeable advocate for and representative of JDRF and the Indiana State Chapter.
  • Oversight and Management of event logistics for Indianapolis One Walk, Ride to Cure Diabetes and Team JDRF.
  • Responsible for management and revenue goals for assigned fundraising events.
  • Participate in the National Stewardship plan and Chapter-specific stewardship activities.
  • Assist Development Director with oversight of chapter and event committees.
  • Partner with the Development Director to identify, solicit, recruit and develop volunteers for chapter and event committees. 
  • Assist Development Director with sponsorship solicitation for events.
  • Management of chapter communications and marketing.
  • Help develop annual plans for assigned activities, including goals, objectives and follow-up. Develop and deliver presentations as required, and provide input and suggestions.
  • Oversee Chapter and event marketing on social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of fundraising experience or relevant business/volunteer experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Experience in soliciting in-kind and monetary donations.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.
  • Must have a general understanding of fundraising and organizing community initiatives.
  • Experience with management of volunteers and event logistics.
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures.
  • Experience with computer systems and databases. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Effectively able to multi-task, establish priorities and work in a fast paced environment. Highly efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure. 
  • Ability to travel locally required. Occasional overnight travel as needed.
  • Evening and weekend work required as needed. 
  • Must be a pro-active self-starter while also being collaborative and an amazing team player!
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
