Job Description

BROAD FUNCTION AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

Assist the legislative team in managing the legislative agenda through administrative and other support efforts. Assist other teams in the office, as necessary, when preparing for Advocacy events. Understand the foundation, department activities, operations, policies, and procedures to perform all duties.  

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Draft, assemble and assist in organizing materials for events, and meetings. Assist in scheduling appointments and coordinating Advocacy meetings and special events. 
  • Attend Congressional hearings, meetings, workshops, and briefings as needed; research information relevant to JDRF’s Advocacy agenda.
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets and update databases on legislative issues.   
  • Respond to legislative inquiries and requests from congressional staff, JDRF volunteers, and JDRF staff.
  • Help monitor and develop social media content related to JDRF’s legislative priorities.
  • Perform other duties related to administrative assignments as assigned by his/her supervisor.
  • Ensure that the confidentiality and security of all information under his/her supervision is maintained.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of office experience required – preferably Government Relations office experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.  
  • Excellent written, oral, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • A team player that has the ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers. Must develop and maintain relationships.
  • Highly efficient in time management. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
  • A self-starter with active listening and problem solving skills.
  • Preferred:  Experience working with congressional offices.  

EDUCATION:  

Bachelor’s degree required.
