JDRF’s Illinois chapter, based in Chicago, plays a vital role in JDRF’s success. With revenues of 16M in FY 2018, the Illinois Chapter is the largest of JDRF’s chapters around the country. Job Description

Join a team of seven peer to peer managers to support the Illinois P2P Programs. Programs include seven JDRF One Walks, Ride to Cure Diabetes, Challenge and Endurance, School Programing, and DIY Fundraising. Development Manager will manage portfolio of 200+ veteran family teams and is responsible for raising more than $1 million through the JDRF One Walk. Logistically, manage all aspects of one of the seven JDRF one Walk Sites of JDRF. Under the direction of the Director, Peer to Peer Programs, and in partnership with the National Walk Team and volunteer leadership to help contribute to the overall $5.4 million total P2P program goal through:

  • Fundraising
  • Stewardship and Donor Centric Management
  • Volunteer Committee Management
  • Prospecting
  • Data Management
  • Event Planning 

Responsibilities include:

FUNDRAISING

  • Meets minimum family team portfolio budget of $500,000 - $1 million
  • Contribute to the overall goal of $4.4 million for the JDRF One Walk
  • Support and lead one additional Peer to Peer Program generating a minimum of $60,000

FAMILY/CORPORATE/SCHOOL TEAM MANAGEMENT

  • Meet registration and fundraising retention goals for returning family, corporate and/or school teams
  • Meet registration and fundraising goals for new family, corporate and/or school teams.
  • In person meeting with all family, corporate and/or school teams as appropriate
  • Moves management development through LCRM

DONOR CULTIVATION

  • Cultivate relationships with donors, volunteers, families, and companies throughout the year
  • Identify new prospects for the Peer to Peer Programs and Illinois Chapter

VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT

  • In partnership with three Peer to Peer team members, manage and support a 40+ family team committee
  • Work with committee to steward family teams, providing on-going support and maintaining high level of contact

EVENT MANAGEMENT

Manage a 10-20 person Experience Committee to oversee day-of-event details, including:

  • Experience chair, logistics lead, volunteer lead, entertainment lead, food lead, stewardship lead, V1P lead, and other general committee members
  • Meet deadlines for any vendor contracts, and/or site requirements
  • Manage any special events related to the Peer to Peer Programs including:
  • Chapter Progress to Type None event – JDRF One Walk Kick-off
  • Pre Walk launch events
  • Peer to Peer Thank you Celebration
  • Other Peer to Peer special events

DATA MANAGEMENT

  • Partner with chapter team to maintain accurate records of all donors and event participants
  • Achieve solid command of database systems to track progress, run reports, input data, and support participant needs
  • Work with National program tools to track progress, submitting documents according to national standards

COMMUNICATIONS

  • Develop and write correspondences with teams, newsletter features, and other documents/communications
  • Coordinate local mailings – invitations, letters, etc.
  • Maintain detailed accounts of teams, committees and donor relationships
  • Submit required documents to national office
  • Weekly review with Development Director
  • Weekly team meeting
  • Monthly chapter staff meeting

OTHER DUTIES

  • Other Peer to Peer Programs as assigned. Support other fundraising events, chapter activities and programs.                   

Qualifications

  • Three – Five (3-5) years of fundraising or business experience.  CFRE a plus.  
  • Knowledge of fundraising and non-event fundraising activities is a must.  
  • Candidate must be a self-starter.  
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.  
  • Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.  
  • Computer literate with experience in Luminate Online, LCRM, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, and other basic office programs. 
  • Must have reliable transportation and be able to work some nights and weekends to support all Peer to Peer Programs.
