The Greater Western Carolinas Chapter plays a vital role in JDRF’s success, with annual revenues of around $5 million. The Chapter has a strong Board of Directors as well as volunteers who are actively engaged and passionate supports of JDRF.

Job Description

The Development Coordinator role is an opportunity to join a strong Chapter team and work closely with the local leadership, regional teams and an outstanding group of volunteers to increase the reach and impact of the Chapter. 

This position is responsible for marketing, communications, community engagement and fundraising. This includes oversight and expansion of the Marketing/Communications (Marcom) Committee, volunteer management, and Outreach responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Marketing and Communications

  • Oversee the Chapter’s Marcom committee, including recruitment, engagement and retention of committee members.
  • Manage chapter website, emails, e-newsletters, and social media accounts.
  • Responsible for the social media and email calendar along with development of content.
  • Assist team with print materials as needed.

Volunteer Management

  • Identify, recruit, train, and engage impactful volunteers to meet and exceed all financial and programmatic objectives for the chapter.
  • Manage all event volunteers for the Chapter One Walks and Galas as well as office volunteers.
  • Serve as the entry point for volunteers to find the most appropriate fit and work with team to assign.
  • Oversee the stewardship and retention of volunteers.

Outreach

  • Serve as the communication lead for all Outreach activities.
  • Manage the logistics for Outreach events and support groups.

General

  • Must be a team player who can achieve individual objectives and support those of the entire chapter team.
  • Accountable for meeting deadlines, responding to volunteers and other department requests.
  • Network with the resource team and other JDRF chapters to discuss best practices and share new ideas.
  • Collaborate with chapter staff to ensure the critical growth and success of the chapter.
  • Perform other duties assigned by his/her immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of fundraising experience or relevant business/volunteer experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Proficiency with computer programs is required.
  • Must have a general understanding of fundraising and organizing community initiatives.
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures.
  • Experience with computer systems and databases. Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Effectively able to multi-task, establish priorities and work in a fast paced environment. Highly efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure. 
  • Ability to travel locally required. Occasional overnight travel as needed.
  • Evening and weekend work required as needed. 
  • Must be a self-starter while also being collaborative and an amazing team player!
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience required.
