Job Description

The JDRF Central Ohio chapter, based in Columbus, Ohio is seeking candidates for a Development Manager to oversee the planning, development, cultivation and stewardship of JDRF Central Ohio’s annual Promise Ball. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented, fundraising professional to be involved in one of Central Ohio’s largest and most successful gala events. The Development Manager will grow revenue and deliver successful events of the signature events program and help ensure that the Promise Ball is positioned for significant, sustainable growth in a manner that allows donors and volunteers to exceed their JDRF related goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In coordination with the Executive Director and Corporate Development Committee, identify and cultivate new corporate partners for the Central Ohio chapter as a whole.
  • Assist in identifying and cultivating major donors.
  • In coordination with the Executive Director, manage the volunteer gala committee in all areas of event execution to assure fundraising goals are met.
  • Maintain accurate and complete financial records for all components of the Promise Ball.
  • Analyze all revenue streams, including local sponsorship, Fund A Cure and auction to maximize fundraising capacity.
  • Work directly with volunteer committees (including corporate development, auction, Fund A Cure, night of, etc.).
  • Lead the development and delivery of chapter signature event fundraising plans that include core standards, key performance indicators, benchmarks and best practices in the areas of fundraising, donor, volunteer and guest experience.
  • Maintain the highest level of communications, ensuring a collaborative approach and execution for all donors in a donor-centric environment.
  • Lead the management and marketing of the Promise Ball program to all participants.
  • Build a collaborative relationship with other JDRF chapters and regional/national counterparts.
  • Manage planning and oversee all logistical aspects of the Promise Ball with focus on driving revenue, controlling expenses, and meeting approved KPI’s and deadlines.
  • Lead program related meetings with board members, committee members and volunteers.
  • Build and execute a year round stewardship plan.
  • Provide support for all additional chapter events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 3+ years of relevant fundraising experience. Experience with other galas or other similar special event fundraising events/programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of fundraising and non-event fundraising activities.
  • Candidate must work well on a team and have the ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Persistent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to take initiative. Ideal candidate is a self-starter and a relationship builder.
  • Some evening and weekend work is required.
