Job Description

As the Transport Support Lead, you will be responsible for to supporting efficient and cost-effective transport operations through transport cost management, invoice processing, claims management, reporting, and continuous improvement. In addition to leading the Transport Administration function so that JB Hi-Fi Group can maintain safe and efficient transport networks and ensure optimal carrier performance and market leading B2C and B2B delivery capability.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Cultivate a supportive and inclusive culture, ensuring team member safety and well-being is prioritised.
  • Maintain and manage team performance and conduct, whilst also ensuring that appropriate feedback, and recognition.
  • Develop team capability through cross-training, knowledge sharing, and operational support to ensure effective coverage and resilience.
  • Provide operational support during peak trading periods and business-critical events.
  • Lead the transport administration function including accounts payable and customer damage claims that result from carrier negligence.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely processing of transport spend and lead improvements in invoice reconciliation and look for ways to improve freight cost recovery.
  • Manage transport cost reporting, carrier rate cards, and administration of carrier contracts in the network.
  • Analyse transport costs, operational data, and trends to support decision-making and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with Operations, Finance, Systems, carriers, and external stakeholders to support operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage carrier audits and communicate to all parties, support audit disputes and monitor the completion.
  • Drive a safety culture through transport processes and provide reporting on COR incidents across the Group
  • Promote awareness about compliance requirements, and coach/train Group leaders, team members and contractors to build capability and knowledge about transport processes and compliance.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

Essential:

  • 5 years’ experience in logistics leadership roles.
  • 3 years’ experience in transport operational leadership roles.
  • Comfortable embracing change, resilient in overcoming challenges, and flexible in adjusting priorities, all whilst maintaining a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Preferred:

  • Experience in retail logistics desirable.
  • Experience with freight management systems.
  • Experience in leading administrative functions, such as accounts payable or claims.
  • Knowledge of the Australian Consumer Law.
  • Experience in conducting audits and managing corrective actions.
  • Experience in delivering compliance training desirable.
  • Knowledge of the transport industry, transport equipment and relevant legislative and regularly requirements such as Chain of Responsibility.
