Job Description

Are you a statistician with excellent modelling skills? Do you want to solve real world problems in coffee & tea research and development (R&D)? Are you eager to help product developers and researchers to design experiments? Are you enthusiastic about data analysis and interpretation? Are you comfortable working with complex data sets? Jacobs Douwe Egberts invites you to a unique opportunity as Statistician within our Modelling & Statistics team.

In this role, you will support other R&D teams by translating their requests into smart, practical experiments that are designed to answer research and business questions. We offer a challenging & interesting work environment. You will be expected to be an active contributor to the Modelling & Statistics team and will report to the Modelling & Statistics Manager. 

A successful applicant will need a Masters degree in Statistics, with experience in statistical programming and gained experience in applied statistics. 

Key responsibilities & skills for this role

  • With line management support, create modstat proposals including approach, timing, data structure requirements
  • Comply with the team’s ways of working in project/data management (collaboration, storage, documentation) 
  • Conduct data analysis, data interpretation and reporting
  • With line management support, create business oridented report (using stakeholders friendly language to ensure data driven decision/recommendation
  • Statistical programming
  • Complete tasks and deliver within agreed timing
  • Contribute toward method development initiatives and statistical trainings to the R&D organisation
  • In this role you will be expected to develop a good understanding of the basics of coffee & tea processing as well as JDE business

For this role as a R&D Modelling Statistics Specialist we’re looking for someone who has the following skills and experience:

Educational background

  • Masters degree in Statistics/Modelling/Data analytics

Experience

  • 3-8 years of work/project experience in applied statistics

Personal Skills

  • Good team player
  • Good interpersonal & networking skills
  • Good presentation skills in order to share findings with your colleagues and stakeholders 
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Communicate complex statistical concepts in a way others can understand
  • Good organization and project management skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate across cultures and functions
  • Fluent in English (written & spoken)

Technical Skills

  • Data visualization, modellisatiion, regression, multivariate analysis, design of experiments and statistical process control.
  • Programming in R and/or SAS JMP
  • Good IT skills
