As the Modelling-Statistics R&D team for JDE, our team is responsible for delivering a great variety of data analytics using a range of data science skills (including predictive modelling, Machine Learning, Text Analytics, Design of Experiments, sampling…); recommending approaches to share data insights with the other teams, from a broad range of business functions.  

In your role as a Modelling-Statistics R&D intern, the analytics you generate will product insights for innovation and renovation projects. You will support the following activities: 

  • Setting up designs of experiments 

  • Acquiring data from various data sources and combining them, ready for analysis 

  • Dashboarding data for hypothesis generation 

  • Statistically modelling data for insight extraction 

  • Converting complex outcomes into impactful recommendations 

  • Work on a personal project to be confirmed within the first 3 months of placement based on interest and current project work 

Qualifications

Do you fulfill the following requirements? 

  • Background in Statistics / Data Science 

  • Some coding experience (R, SQL, …) 

  • Good organizational skills (organizing, reporting, etc.) 

  • Good communication skills 

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)  

You will be able to independently plan and execute experiments related to your project areas, as well as produce technical reports/presentations and periodically communicate key findings to stakeholders. You will be a part of one of the teams within R&D, but also have the opportunity to interact with your peers in other departments within and outside of R&D. In addition, at busy times, you may be expected to support other ongoing project activities outside of your immediate team and, for some disciplines, occasional international travel may be required. 

This role is for Master students in the final phase of their studies for a 6 months internship at our Utrecht Research and Development Center. 

To be successful in this role, you need to be enrolled at a University for the whole duration of the internship in a degree related to Data Science and/or Statistics. You are highly motivated, an excellent communicator, fluent in English, inquisitive, analytical and prepared to work in a fast-paced, dynamic international environment. 

Additional Information

The monthly internship allowance is € 450,- for a HBO student or € 500,- for a WO student, based on a fulltime 40 hour workweek. The internship starts at the beginning of September 2021, and is for a period of 6 months. 

Timeline: 

  • May: Application stage 

  • Mid-June: Video Interviews 

  • June-July: Contract stage 

  • Beginning of September: Start of internship
