As the global Sensory & Consumer Science R&D team for JDE, our team is responsible for delivering a great variety of sensory & consumer studies, e.g. in the areas of roast & ground, instant, and single serve coffee.  

In your role as a Sensory & Consumer Science R&D intern, you will support the JDE sensory & consumer scientists in designing and delivering key innovations and renovations. Activities include: 

  • Support in the set-up & briefing of sensory & consumer studies 

  • Analyzing sensory & consumer studies 

  • Reporting & presenting sensory & consumer studies 

  • Work on a personal project to be confirmed within the first 3 months of placement based on interest and current project work 

Qualifications

Do you fulfill the following requirements? 

  • Background in Sensory and/or Consumer Science/Food Science 

  • Good organizational skills (organizing, reporting, etc.) 

  • Good communication skills 

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)  

You will be able to independently plan and execute experiments related to your project areas, as well as produce technical reports/presentations and periodically communicate key findings to stakeholders. You will be a part of one of the teams within R&D, but also have the opportunity to interact with your peers in other departments within and outside of R&D. In addition, at busy times, you may be expected to support other ongoing project activities outside of your immediate team. 

This role is for Master students in the final phase of their studies for a 6 months internship at our Utrecht Research and Development Center. 

To be successful in this role you need to be enrolled at a University for the whole duration of the internship. Please note that non-EU students enrolled in EU University should have right to work for the whole extend of the internship. 

Preferable degrees include: Food Science, Food Technology, Sensory and/or Consumer Science.  

You are highly motivated, an excellent communicator, fluent in English, inquisitive, analytical and prepared to work in a fast-paced, dynamic international environment.

Additional Information

The monthly internship allowance is € 450,- for a HBO student or € 500,- for a WO student, based on a fulltime 40 hour workweek. The internship starts at the beginning of September 2021, and is for a period of 6 months. 

Timeline: 

  • May: Application stage 

  • Mid-June: Video Interviews 

  • June-July: Contract stage 

  • Beginning of September: Start of internship
