Job Description

*Known internally as the Material Planner*

This is a fantastic early career opportunity role for a supply chain professional who has recently finished a supply chain degree or someone who is looking for their next role in the supply chain or manufacturing world who is looking to take the next step in their career! The role has great growth prospects and career trajectory within the JDE Manufacturing and Supply Chain world!

The materials planning team manage circa 30 suppliers across Europe over 300+ materials and must manage the balance of ensuring that production plans can be met whilst minimising stocks remaining within the business inventory targets.

The successful candidate will have full accountability for their own portfolio of suppliers having the responsibility of managing forecasting & the replenishment of 100s packaging materials. They will need to consider the short, medium and long term planning horizon, to meet factory production plans and to maintain & improve departmental KPIs'.

They will work closely with the Plant Initiative team on all New Product Development or Product Change having the responsibility of minimising obsoletes and cost to the business. The incumbent will also work with the Central Purchasing Team, based in The Netherlands, to define appropriate replenishment strategies with the suppliers and for measuring and monitoring Supplier service performance. They will chair frequent Supplier Reviews having fully prepared and analysed the performance data.

This Supply Chain Analyst will need to establish strong working relationships with stakeholders in all areas of operations both internally and externally, in particular with Packaging Material Suppliers, Purchasing, Finished Goods, Scheduling and Packing Operations. There is a high level of focus on continuous improvement, seeking to increase efficiency in all areas of the business.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage the provision of an accurate short, medium and long-term (52wks) forecast of material requirements to suppliers, and work with them and key stakeholders to ensure sufficient capacity to meet business flexibility, managing stocks build requirements to cover outages and maintain supply.
  • Implement the replenishment strategies with Suppliers, including transparency and tracking of upstream stocks & liabilities.
  • Identify risks in material supply plans and escalation to enable decisions to be made to achieve business goals and protect customer service.
  • Manage the material change aspects of new material introductions/run outs to least cost & raise final obsolescence requests on a monthly basis
  • Manage and track inventory coverage and value, ensuring appropriate safety stock levels are set and maintain
  • Lead and manage the Supplier Relationship for own specific suppliers, as required. Co-ordinate and chair regular supplier reviews.
  • Act as a point of issue resolution in order to manage supply issues impacting Banbury Manufacturing
  • Consolidate supplier KPI’s and manage with Procurement the development of supplier performance to meet the business needs.
  • Raise and maintain all material related system data (e.g. SAP)

Qualifications

  • Graduate calibre or equivalent
  • High level of numeracy and analytical skills
  • A clear passion in your CV for Demand, Material and/or supply planning
  • An understanding of the FMCG manufacturing world
  • The ability to learn new technology systems quickly
  • The drive to quick become accountable for your own 3rd party supplier portfolio
  • Good problem solver with focus on continuous improvement
  • The department works to a weekly schedule with a high level of change so the incumbent must be agile in responding to this, able to identify supply shortages and find solutions to issues under pressure.
