Jacobs Douwe Egberts Research and Development (R&D) is part of the Global JDE organization. R&D is the major contributor to the development of innovative coffee and tea products and is constantly optimizing the product portfolio. Focus of R&D is on building technology platforms, new products, portfolio renovations and productivity initiatives. R&D have a strong involvement in JDE business and are providing valuable input to enable business decisions to be made. Projects are mostly carried out together with Marketing, Operations and Procurement Departments.

The Process Assistant is part of a Category Team within the R&D Department. The role is an entry-level role responsible for planning routine experiments/trials/tasting to support the category projects.  Technicians support projects and may be consulted by other R&D members for NPD projects and by other JDE employees in case of operational issues.

GOAL AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The Technician is responsible for the execution and reporting of experiments/trials/tastings with guidance from Specialists.  Technicians support projects and may be consulted by other R&D members for NPD projects and by other JDE employees in case of operational issues.

RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY ACTIVITIES

• Plans and executes pilot plant trials/product testing/ tastings under the guidance and support of a Specialist
• Analyses result and provide reports to Specialists or Managers in the team
• Responsible for operating/maintaining simple equipment and facilities. Assuring good manufacturing practices with respect to maintenance and hygiene
• Take care of administration and archiving results and writing & updating simple specifications to support projects
• Represents R&D in simple Adapt for Excellence projects
• Support and learn Specialist tasks as appropriate including (but not limited to): defining and leading pilot/plant trials, collecting experimental data, writing technical reports, developing prototypes, completing sensory, chemical, physical and analytical assessments of product, drafting specifications, defining pack functional spec and selecting materials, completing physical lab testing and requesting/arranging external testing, drafting technical reports.
• Adopts and follows all JDE technical systems and processes
• Support R&D sensory testing
• Write & Perform standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and suggest an adjustment of standardized methods for particular products and/or problems
• Other tasks/duties as assigned by Manager

To succeed in this role, it is required of you to have:

• At least a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Food Science and Nutrition or equvalent
• Demonstrable project management skills are essential, together with the ability to operate in a complex, multi-national environment
• Analytical thinking and attention to detail
• Good communication skills in written and spoken English, and either Bahasa or Mandarin.  Excellent computer skills
• Interest in food and drink - preparation, tasting or packaging
• Fresh graduate are encouraged to apply
