Job Description

The HR Business Partner – Malaysia MU aims to support the Malaysia MU organization in building leadership capability within the company, driving a performance culture and enhancing associate engagement.

The HR Business Partner is a role within the Malaysia MU HR organization and is based in Johor, Malaysia. The Business Partner reports to the Plant HR Manager – Malaysia (Johor Plant).

GOAL AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The HR Business Partner aims to support the Local organization in building leadership capability within the company, driving a performance culture and enhancing associate engagement. The role is accountable for executing the local HR agenda including people aspects such as compensation and benefits, talent and performance management, local labor relations and associate engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY ACTIVITIES

- Contributes to the development and implementation of the local HR strategy:

  • Coordinate, improve and implement the specific HR processes in the business segment within the scope of the organizational culture and structure.
  • Jointly determining strategic choices and implementation of the HR policy when representing HR in the Management Team of the allocated Business segment within the Business Unit.

- Provides expert knowledge to the local management regarding associate engagement issues, organizational structures and change projects.

- Functions as an internal/external contact point for HR legislation issues/questions, questions regarding HR themes and processes. This in order to guarantee correct information flow and process continuation.

- Provides expert knowledge to the local management in managing local labor relations (unions, works councils etc.) and with local managers in dealing with front line associate issues. Leading discussion of the personnel policy with the syndicate delegation and reporting on this.

- Monitors compliance of local HR policies, procedures and documentation with local regulations and proactively flags issues of non-compliance.

- Leads as expert the cultural transformation, designing the local plan or executing the global initiatives locally, supporting the Plant HR Manager.

- Conducts surveys of employees' attitudes/opinions/needs, and implementing actions plans to improve employee engagement.

- Employee life cycle:

  • Recruits permanent, graduate, and temporary associates in the local organizations, in
  • accordance with HR guidelines and the recruitment team.
  • Implements the onboarding process for new hires;
  • Facilitates the talent review process with the management team and coaching managers in performance reviews;
  • Supports management in team development projects and organization processes;
  • Identifies development needs of employees in the business unit and defining career/development plans with the related managers;
  • Defines proactively succession plans for critical job positions.

Qualifications

Must have:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with specialisation in human resources management or equivalent;
  • Min 6 years’ of experience as a HR Business Partner in a multi-national work environment; preferably in Operations;
  • Mastery of key HR processes;
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management;
  • Sound knowledge of local labour laws and managing employee relations issues;
  • Proven experience in project management;
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and HR tools;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Good knowledge of English;
  • FMCG experience would be an added advantage.
