Job Description

  • Act as Lead internal agronomist for JDE, advising key stakeholders across regulatory / corporate affairs / R&D on green coffee practices, risks, and methods of improvement.
  • In close collaboration with the sustainability team define the roadmap of work required to improve JDE’s understanding of the agronomy and to enable definition of agronomy best practices, to support economic / sustainable and risk management aspects
  • Hands on approach to setting up and conducting field trials throughput the green coffee value chain to validate impacts and benefits.
  • In close collaboration with the Sustainability Team build and enhance an external network of local business relationships from growers / co-operatives / post harvest processors / research and agronomy companies - to enable support to JDE ‘s Agenda
  • Leverage knowledge and data from JDE Common Grounds projects to build and expand the understanding of Pesticide and Herbicide practices, review potential impact on coffee and advise / conduct trials through third party network to demonstrate potential to reduce / minimize risk, or define relevant standards.
  • Build understanding of external research in the Green coffee value chain and associated regulatory landscape.  Work closely to advise regulatory affairs teams
  • In close collaboration with the Sustainability Team represent JDE on local consortia, agriculture focus federations linked to coffee supply chain where aims are in line with JDE strategy.
  • Build a working relationship with local coffee and tea sourcing teams in Brazil and Vietnam to ensure aligned workstreams.
  • Work closely with coffee and tea sourcing Brazil and the sustainability team to drive supplier engagement and reporting to enable support of JDE’s strategy.

Qualifications

  • First degree or M.Sc. in agriculture or agronomy
  • Experience in coffee agricultural production or similar agricultural crop
  • Fluent English

Additional Information

  • Very regular travel to coffee production areas for meetings, field trials and visits.
  • Flexible attitude in working outside office hours if required
