As the global R&D packaging team for JDE, our team is responsible for delivering packaging innovations and renovations in the areas of roast & ground, instant and single serve coffee. We’re looking for interns with a packaging engineer/chemical engineer/food technology/industrial design background to support several key innovation and renovation initiatives.

For the period starting in October 2020 we are recruiting for two Global R&D packaging interns:

1. Global R&D Packaging Sustainability Intern

2. Global R&D Packaging Intern

In your role as Global R&D Packaging intern, you will support the JDE packaging technologists in developing and delivering key innovations and renovations. Activities comprise:

• Packaging Life Cycle Assessment
• Packaging Structure Characterisation
• Maintenance of Packaging Sustainability Database
• General support on packaging development
• Ideation and design for innovations
• Finding technical solutions for consumer/marketing needs
• Validating technologies through executing trials and tests
• Supporting (factory) trials
• General support to the packaging R&D team in Utrecht

To be successful in this role you need to:

• have technical background in chemical engineer, materials engineer, packaging technology, design, food technology, chemistry, industrial design or similar
• have affinity for packaging technology and materials
• have good organizational skills (organizing, reporting, etc.)
• have good communication skills
• be fluent in English (spoken and written)

This role is for HBO/Bachelor/Master students in the final phase of their studies for a minimum of 5/6 months internship at our Utrecht Research and Development Center.

To be successful in this role you need to be enrolled at a University for the whole duration of the internship preferably in one of the following degrees: Packaging technology, design, food technology, chemistry or industrial design. You are highly motivated, an excellent communicator, fluent in English, inquisitive, analytical and prepared to work in a fast-paced, dynamic international environment.

The monthly internship allowance is € 450,- for a HBO student or € 500,- for a WO student, based on a full-time 40 hour workweek.
