Job Description

The Shopper Marketing Manager will work closely with: Sales, Marketing & Finance to deliver the JDE Brand Strategy at the Point of Sales across all relevant channels/retail environments (in-store and online).

Define a relevant & compelling coffee & cereal category management position for JDE that reflects market/channel dynamics, complexity and tastes. Develop clear channel strategies based on local and global shopper insights, resulting in tangible value creation. With focus on: product, pack, price & promo strategy.

The Shopper Marketing Manager is accountable for design and development of 4P Channel Strategies covering the following areas across all JDE brands and channels (in-store and online).

  • Design of Perfect Store / Picture of Success by Retail Environment. Incorporating channel/shopper insights and analysis.
  • Ensure that successful execution of local and global innovation.
  • Promotion design across Channels, with clear focus on ROI and a defined Promotion Calendar and Menu Card.
  • Insights, Intelligence & Analysis. Leverage: market, shopper and competitor insights to drive facts-based decision making.
  • Work with Centre of Excellence (COE) for Shopper Marketing to ensure that Shopper Marketing plans across all channels (in-store and online) are consistent and in line with guidelines.
  • Communication. Proactively engage all internal & external stakeholders.
  • People & Values, live JDE core values and be the voice of Shopper Marketing in JDE.

Goal and Key Accountabilities: 

(a) Design the Picture of Success for JDE across all Channels & Formats
RANGE: Work with Sales & Marketing to design the correct JDE assortment by Retail Environment (RE) to ensure correct share of range and that JDE have the most powerful shopper offer at the Point of Sales.
PRICE: Work with Sales & Marketing to define the optimal price points to maximise NOS/GP.
PACK SIZE: Work with Sales & Marketing to design the correct pack size (including outer case) by RE to maximise distribution and revenue capture.
PRIMARY SHELF: Set clear guidelines on Primary Shelf layout and design for all JDE brands to ensure that the brand in presented in a consistent and impactful manner.
SECONDARY DISPLAY: Placement: Set clear guidelines on secondary display location by RE. Design: Set clear guidelines for all JDE brands to ensure that the brand in presented in a consistent and impactful manner.

(b) Innovation
PRE-LAUNCH: Work with Marketing to ensure that all pipeline innovation is fit for purpose for each RE; Work with: Sales, Finance and Marketing to set the P&L to ensure optimal success with the trade - trade margin, listing fees, Work with: Sales & Marketing to develop 4P guidelines for all NPD by RE and launch promotion plan.
LAUNCH: Work with Sales & Marketing to set Distribution Targets by RE and Customer by SKU; Work with Sales & Marketing to build a compelling trade selling story & JDE associate training pack.
POST LAUNCH: Conduct Post Launch Tracking: Distribution Build, Sell-In, Sell-Out.

(c) Promotions
PROMOTION PACKS: Design menu card of Promotion Packs across all RE (on and offline) to ensure maximum offtake and sustainable ROI.
PROMOTION PRICING: Set Promotion Pricing guideline by RE - with clear floor price
EVENTS: Work with Sales & Marketing to ensure a strong and consistent program across all channels for key events: CNY etc.
PROMOTION CALENDAR: Based on all of the above points - develop and maintain a holistic promotional calendar across all RE.

(d) Insights, Intelligence & Analysis
INTERNAL: Proactively and positively engage with all internal stakeholders in JDE to provide excellence in Shopper Marketing support.
EXTERNAL: Support Sales with external Customer category / innovation meetings as needed to drive JDE Coffee credibility in the market.

(e) People & Values
COACH & DEVELOP SHOPPER MARKETING TEAM: Empower, challenge and grow hi performers & hi potentials, coach and guide in areas where improvement is needed, lead by example of ‘What Good Looks Like’ for a Shopper Marketing Team, lead the recruitment & retention of Shopper Marketing talent.
VALUES: Bring JDE core values to life across Shopper Marketing.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Degree/ Master of Degree (Preferred)

Additional Information

Must have:

  •  7+ years’ experience in the FMCG industry.
  • Sales or Marketing experience.
  • Proven track record in the management of a sales team.
  • Ability to manage a changing workload in a dynamic deadline-driven changing environment.
  • Demonstrated drive, confidence and risk taking.
  • Ability to work a complex/matrix corporate structure.
  • Proven ability to anticipate needs and initiate action.
  • Ability to translate strategy & insights into pragmatic execution plans.
