Job Description

The materials planning team manage c 20 suppliers and 300+ materials and must manage the balance of ensuring that production plans can be met whilst minimising stocks, remaining within the business inventory targets.

The Material Planner will take responsibility for all activity within their portfolio, including being involved in all New Product Development or Product Change activity on their categories ensuring that write off risk and obsolete stocks are minimised.  The incumbent will also be responsible for working with the Central Purchasing team to define appropriate replenishment strategies with the suppliers and for measuring and monitoring Supplier service performance.

The material planner will be responsible for managing forecasting & replenishment of packaging materials for all finished goods. They will need to consider the short, medium and long term planning horizon, to meet factory production plans and to maintain key departmental KPIS: Customer Service Level (98.5%) Production Compliance Volume (100%), Supplier OTIF (98.5%) and defined Inventory targets.

The department works to a weekly schedule with a high level of change so the incumbent has to be able to identify supply shortages and find solutions to issues. There is a high level of focus on continuous improvement, seeking to increase efficiency in all areas of the business.

The material planner will work closely cross functionally with stakeholders in all areas of operations both internally and externally, in particular with Packaging Material Suppliers, Purchasing, Finished Goods, Scheduling and Packing Operations

Qualifications

Must have:

  • High level of numeracy and analytical skills
  • Recent experience in materials planning, production scheduling or related supply chain role
  • Systems literate (PC, SAP and Excel (advanced user))
  • Knowledge and understanding of MRP
  • Excellent team working and interpersonal skills
  • Good problem solver with focus on continuous improvement

Nice to have:

  • SAP/APO experience
  • Coffee manufacturing experience
  • FMCG experience

Education

  • Degree level education
  • GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
