Job Description

Business context of the role:

At Jacobs Douwe Egberts we’re inspired by our belief that it’s amazing what can happen over a cup of coffee. Here in the UK & Ireland we are known for leading coffee brands including Kenco, L’Or and Tassimo. With associates spread across 3 locations in Hurley (nr Maidenhead), Banbury and Dublin.

This position is based at our Manufacturing site in Banbury. The Freeze Dried Operator is part of the Process team who form a key part of the wider Manufacturing function. The Manufacturing function ensures the integration of all key business processes from supplier to customers, green coffee beans to award winning coffee. The team covers sourcing, procurement, manufacturing, engineering, supply chain and planning processes, they ensure optimal alignment between demand and supply at a global scale.

About the role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to fully support the operational aspects of the Freeze Dried department within the coffee processing plant with particular attributes and emphasis on team work within a multi-skilled workforce environment.

Key responsibilities of the role:  

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • To operate and control the Plant to ensure that Coffee targets and volumes are met.
  • To be responsible for the continuous monitoring of the plant in the field
  • To be involved in taking an active part in the planned maintenance and repair of Plant and Equipment
  • To be trained in Operator Asset Care (OAC) and carry out OAC running checks/repair work as required
  • To conduct finished product testing and facilitate subsequent storage plus manage any non-conforming product including:

                                              -         Oil Plating

                                              -          Reefed system

                                              -          Quality Control Sampling (Lab testing, Phoenix input)

                                              -          Tote and Bag filling

  • Make up and operate rework systems and manage rework stocks, communicate with SD area.
  • Operate primary product extraction plant.
  • Carry out plant (2SN) field duties.
  • Operate secondary extraction plant (THEO), liquor management process and communicate with Spray Dried and Utilities areas.
  • Carry out THEO liquor management field duties.
  • Operate Freeze Dried liquor management and all associated equipment.
  • Carry out liquor management field duties.
  • Operate FD process including; Foaming, Cold Room/Granulation (cold room medical required, Drier (confined space qualification required), Transport systems
  • Carry out field duties on FD process as above
  • Assist or carryout some technical duties if trained and competent to do so.
  • Be proactive in fault finding, C.I. and GE improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain good levels of housekeeping in all areas as above

Qualifications

  • As part of a small working group the successful applicant will be expected to be self-motivated, flexible and prepared to take on a range of responsibilities without the need for supervision.
  • It will be advantageous to have some knowledge of P.C. based Plant Operation, coupled with sufficient Technical knowledge and/or aptitude to meet the demands of the role.
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment within an operational role is ideal.
  • A F.L.T. Licence will be required (opportunity to take test). 
  • Please note due to the nature of the environment you will have to pass the medical requirements to work in these conditions.
