Job Description

The Procurement function has a key role to play in this plan: to deliver the most competitive cost & cash base and to create top line value by building and managing a strong supplier base.

The Indirects Buyer is a key role in the Procurement team. Based in Utrecht and reporting into the Procurement Manager for Logistics, you will find yourself supporting the logistics team with contract logistics specifically Warehousing and Distribution and Value Added Services (co-packing).  Liaising with logistics management, you will contribute to the development and implementation of Warehouse and Transportation Procurement plans that quickly deliver best in class results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, gain business wide support for and implement category sourcing plans that quickly deliver tangible results;
  • Build effective relationships engaging with stakeholders across functions and country business units that maximise value and drive continuous improvement;
  • Identify and prioritise opportunities to deliver total cost of ownership savings in your category and drive  the implementation of the plans to capture those opportunities;
  • Proactively manage supplier relationships to deliver cost & cash results in regard to quality and service levels, to drive continuous improvement and position JDE as a customer of choice;
  • Measure and benchmark performance to ensure that JDE has the most competitive cost base in your category;
  • Drive innovation programs in your category to continually search for cost saving opportunities, new technologies, new products and new suppliers that contribute to the overall strategy of the business;
  • Develop Tender Strategies and Tender Tool utilization.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need a relevant Bachelor or Master’s degree combined with at least 2 years of relevant experience at least one year being in Logistics and preferably in a procurement environment.  You’ve shown your ability to translate plans into actions, to manage projects in the most efficient way and to challenge the existing and to drive change when necessary.

  • Previous Carrier Business Development and/or Transportation Management experience would be considered as an asset;
  • Good knowledge of the European logistics setting;
  • An excellent track record of delivering “best in class cost and cash results”;
  • International experience in global companies (ideally FMCG) is desirable;
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills;
  • (Near) Native English language skills (both oral as written);
  • The ability to thrive with ambiguity, change and minimum processes and systems.
