Job Description

Offshore Medic qualification, with RGN / HCPC Paramedic

•    Provide onsite routine health care and advice to offshore personnel in line with Iqarus MSOs
•    Provide onsite emergency medical care 24 hours per day in line with Iqarus MSOs
•    Seek appropriate and timely consultation/advice from Topside service and/or the Medical Advisor
•    Arrange any required Medevac cases in accordance with Iqarus and Client site protocols
•    Maintain stock levels of all medications, including safe custody of controlled drugs and maintenance of controlled drugs register, in accordance with Iqarus MSO
•    Maintain patient confidentiality at all times, supported with clear and concise medical records in line with Iqarus Records and Record Keeping Policy, also maintain the sickbay attendance log, including Patient information on medications taken and known allergies
•    All medical reviews to be added to the MOL2 database with contemporaneous notes.
•    Complete a comprehensive handover, wherever required, at the end of each trip
•    Management of clinical waste and routine cleaning of the sick bay
•    Ensure all medical equipment and gases are functional, regularly inspected and maintained, including calibration of required items in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines
•    Lead first aid team and co-ordinate all first aid team activities and regular training, providing additional advanced first aid training to the designated first aiders
•    Ensure clinical Occupational health practices undertaken are in accordance with the policies of Iqarus
•    Maintain professional standards in accordance with current legislation and practice professional registration and continuing professional development and client’s standards
•    Work in partnership with other health professionals within Iqarus and within the client organisation, as applicable, to deliver a quality service and demonstrate and personal commitment
•    Liaise with other management stakeholders;
•    HR in the management of sickness absence
•     Identification of risk and the development of risk prevention, control or management strategies
•    Participate in 2 weekly Medic’s conference call
•    Ensure emergency medical stations are fully stocked and in full working order
•    Maintain and replenish all eye wash, earplug and lens cleaning stations
•    Prepare and distribute relevant reports to Terminal Manager/ HSE Superintendent and/or Medical Advisor
•    Complete OGUK Medicals for Client employees
•    Complete Drug testing, with cause and random
Focal point for:
•    Hygiene inspections of Kitchen/Galley and Accommodation areas
•    Expose monitoring to support Health Surveillance in accordance with COSHH Assessments and OHRAF.
•    Facilitating in the development and day to day operation of health surveillance programs
•    Ensuring the health surveillance database is updated and accurate records of exposures are being maintained
•    Conducting health surveillance and exposure monitoring are required by site hazards and agreed by Medical Advisor,
•    Noise – this includes:
•    Carrying out personal Noise Dosimetry monitoring as required
•    Carrying out all noise level monitoring under the direction of HSE Superintendent
•    Display Screen Equipment Assessment
Safety and Environmental Duties
•    Participate in site checks with safety team
•    Working closely with the HSE Superintendent to identify and implement improvements to site safety
•    Support the HSE Superintendent with site cover where required.
•    Leading by example in all activities to demonstrate a personal commitment to safety during site tours and safety related visit
•    Assisting with preparation of Manual Handling Assessments for manual handling tasks
•    Providing information, as required, to allow client’s systems to be updated following an incident.
•    Preparing and present information on medical and health matters, as required, during safety meetings
•    Assist, as required, in accident/incident investigations and root cause analysis
•    Participate in client’s investigation and reporting scheme
•    Awareness of reporting requirements and relevant HSE documentation associated with RIDDOR
•    Awareness and understanding of key site safety procedures on client’s CMS system
•    Be Performing Authority to issue necessary work permits, effectively participate in risk assessments and attend work permit meetings
•    Conduct NORM checks as required
•    Site Radiation Protection Supervisor - Understanding of site radiation meters, awareness of site nucleonic and how to isolate and de-isolate
•    Awareness of site environmental permits in place
•    Undertaking environmental sampling and reporting, under the guidance of site HSE Superintendent
•    Awareness of site discharge points
•    Awareness of spill response procedure, location of spill equipment on site and remedial actions to be taken in the event of a spill
•    Awareness of local wildlife and bird nesting procedure
•    Awareness of the site drainage system
Administrative Duties
•    Maintaining of the site Occupational health risk assessment file (OHRAF)
•    Awareness of all occupational hazards present on site, prevention mechanisms and, if required, relevant treatment
•    Conducting regular reviews written instructions, manuals and protocols for which the medic has responsibility

Qualifications

•    Eligible to work, or resident, in the UK 
•    Registered Nurse (Adult), with at least 3 years’ post-graduation experience within one or more of: A&E, ICU, HDU, OOH’s Service, ANP, Medical or Surgical Assessment Unit, OR; 
•    HCPC Registered Paramedic with significant experience in one or more of: Rapid Response, Emergency Care Practitioner, OOH’s Service
