Job Description

The energy transition means, fundamentally, a push toward electrification using renewable energy. Renewable energy’s intermittent nature is tamed by energy storage, and not just any storage, but large-scale, long-duration and robust stationary energy storage. That’s where Invinity comes in. We make flow batteries that store energy in a liquid electrolyte containing vanadium. Invinity’s vanadium flow batteries are highly advanced versions of this proven technology.

Invinity is deploying large-scale projects throughout the UK and internationally. We are looking for a trained electrician with mechanical experience to install, commission, service and maintain the hardware, software and communications technologies in our energy storage systems across multiple concurrent projects. You will work closely with other Installation Engineers, Test and Commissioning team, Manufacturing team and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Primarily electrical and electronic work; installation, commissioning, testing, repair and servicing of Vanadium Flow Battery (VFB) energy storage systems on customer sites
  • Produce Risk Assessment/ Method Statements (RAMS) as required and continuously refine
  • Understand and amend (redlining) electrical and P&ID schematics of on-site changes, retrofits, as-built systems
  • Verify accuracy between the documentation and the installed system
  • Must be able and willing to travel and work at UK offices and customer sites (UK & International)
  • Work within the Bathgate Factory when not working on site including: panel building; wiring of battery systems; dismantling/decommissioning of systems and components

Qualifications

  • Five years’ + experience as an Electrician. We will recognise all routes to qualifying including: apprenticeship; AM2 Assessment; CSCS Electricians Gold Card  
  • Experience in low voltage, small and large-scale installations
  • Experience of working on a construction site and an understanding of construction site rules and regulations so you can hit the ground running
  • Experience of and strong electrical troubleshooting skills of electrical systems and testing of sub-assemblies
  • Experience in both AC and DC electrical equipment and installations
  • Able to produce when required, supporting documentation, procedures, method statements and risk assessments
  • Ability to engineer solutions on the job, both electrical and mechanical; strong competence using hand tools
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook) and general computer literacy
  • Wiring regulations - 18th Edition
  • Inspection and Testing City & Guilds 2391-52
  • Right to work in the UK, valid and current Passport, and Driving Licence

Desirable

Experience of renewable energy generation, inverter/rectifier systems

Any of the following certificates would be desirable,(training will be arranged as required):

  • First Aid at work (3-day course)
  • Sling Training

  • IPAF Operator (3a, 3b & 1b)
