We need a Director of Technology, R&D to oversee battery technology advances for future products. You will direct strategy development for a highly collaborative R&D team focused on synthesis, development and experimental verification of electrochemical technologies, cell stacks, and operating principals while working closely with all stakeholders.

As a successful candidate, you understand the importance and role of technology platforms and portfolio management. You understand that technology strategy, risk elimination, and knowledge creation are key drivers of success.. You have overseen delivery of world class, commercial  electro-chemical R&D programs and know the challenges and pitfalls of scale-up from materials science to manufacturable, high volume product from first-hand experience. Your experience spans the range from methods selection and interpretation of first principals’ theory  through all technology risk level (TRL) stages of development. You are a proven innovator and leader of innovation, expert communicator, and experienced in developing a team’s maximum potential. In short, you know how to be a great Technology Director because you’ve done it before.

Responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of Invinity’s battery core technology principal benefits, value propositions, and opportunities for technology advancement
• Assist with development of Invinity Technology Strategy, Implement strategy via internal and external programs in conjunction with other stakeholders;
• Train, and motivate teams of scientists, engineers, technicians to achieve the technology strategies
• Find and manage external technology development partners per the strategy; identify and engage partners when needed. Co-develop and write grant-funding applications where appropriate.
• Oversee Invinity’s global patent portfolio development and management process.

• 10 plus years as a R&D Technology Director or Manager with responsibility for strategic technology portfolio planning and execution..
• 7 plus years experience with electro-chemical materials R&D; lab scale, pilot scale, and continuous volume production.
• 3 plus years experience with the creation, management, prosecution, and oversight of global patent portfolios using best practices.
• Experience in creating and implementing technology strategy, including setting clear objectives for development teams.
• PhD, Master’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Electro-chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field.

Desirable

• Prior, deep experience with Vanadium Redox Flow Battery technology
• An MBA in Management of Technology
