Job Description
Primary Function of Position
The Director, Marketing is responsible for leading Korea's marketing function, including Clinical Marketing, Product Marketing, and Ecosystem Marketing, to drive sustainable market growth and customer adoption across Intuitive's portfolio.
This role leads the Korea Marketing team and works closely with Sales and enabling functions in Korea, as well as Regional Marketing teams, to translate business priorities into effective marketing strategies and execution plans.
As a member of the Korea Leadership Team (KLT), the Director, Marketing contributes to country business planning, develops organizational capabilities, and ensures that Marketing serves as a strategic partner in achieving Intuitive Korea's growth objectives.
The role serves as a key contributor to country growth strategy while helping the organization navigate evolving market dynamics, leadership maturity, and organizational change. This position also provides significant exposure to country leadership, regional marketing collaboration, and enterprise-wide strategic initiatives.
Essential Job Duties
Business Strategy & Market Leadership
Lead the Marketing team and cross-functional stakeholders within a matrix organization to develop and execute short- and long-term strategies for market growth.
Serve as a key contributor to country business planning and growth strategy, ensuring alignment between marketing priorities and business objectives.
Champion deep customer and market understanding through data, insights, and field engagement to inform strategic decision-making.
Drive insights on market trends, competitive dynamics, reimbursement changes, and industry developments to support business growth.
Drive the evolution of go-to-market approaches and customer engagement strategies to address changing market needs and business priorities.
Oversee product positioning, portfolio strategy, and lifecycle planning to maximize market adoption and business performance.
Customer & External Engagement
Build strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), hospitals, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to support customer engagement and ecosystem adoption.
Support strategic engagement with professional societies, healthcare institutions, and relevant industry groups to strengthen Intuitive's market presence.
Serve as a strategic liaison for key customers and external stakeholders.
Organizational Leadership & Transformation
Develop marketing talent and organizational capability while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous growth.
Lead and coach a high-performing team, strengthening leadership capability and succession readiness across the organization.
Lead teams through organizational change and business transformation by providing clarity, alignment, and effective change leadership.
Develop and delegate marketing operations and execution responsibilities to ensure effective implementation while expanding team capabilities.
Contribute to broader commercial capability development through cross-functional collaboration and sharing of customer and market insights.
Regional & Enterprise Collaboration
Partner with Regional and Global Marketing teams to share insights, leverage best practices, and contribute to organizational learning.
Represent Korea within APAC Marketing forums and collaborate with regional leaders on strategic initiatives, capability building, and best-practice sharing.
Actively contribute as a member of the Korea Leadership Team (KLT), fostering strong collaboration and alignment across business functions.
Operational Excellence
Establish and continuously improve marketing processes, operating mechanisms, and execution standards to ensure clarity, accountability, and efficiency.
Manage marketing budgets, track ROI, and ensure effective allocation of resources to maximize business impact.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Business, Marketing, or a related discipline; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
12+ years of progressive experience in marketing, commercial strategy, sales leadership, or business management within healthcare, medical device, pharmaceutical, or related industries.
Strong understanding of Korea's healthcare environment, reimbursement systems, compliance standards, and regulatory landscape.
Proven ability to interpret market data, financial metrics, customer insights, and business trends to guide strategic decision-making.
Demonstrated success driving business growth through effective marketing strategy, cross-functional leadership, and customer engagement.
At least 10 years of people leadership experience, including talent development, coaching, and succession planning.
Proven success leading high-performing teams in a complex matrix organization.
Experience leading teams through growth, organizational change, business transformation, or go-to-market evolution.
Ability to balance short-term execution with long-term capability building and organizational development.
Strong executive presence with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
Demonstrated ability to build alignment, navigate ambiguity, and lead through complexity.
Strategic, customer-centric, and results-oriented mindset with a passion for developing people and organizational capability.
