Job Description
Primary Function of Position
Intuitive is seeking a Senior Trainer within POET to support internal education. This role is critical to facilitating onboarding and advanced courses, delivering lectures, and leading hands-on lab experiences. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), the Senior Trainer will apply deep knowledge of Intuitive products, services, and clinical applications, along with expertise in surgical and diagnostic procedures, design control, risk management, and usability. This individual will drive excellence in education and training across POET verticals, foster a culture of learning and innovation, and strengthen internal development programs through effective program coordination and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Job Duties
Facilitate Courses: Conduct engaging and informative training sessions for Design, Engineering, and Product Development teams, ensuring content is current and directly relevant to Intuitive’s products and clinical practices.
Deliver Lectures: Present complex clinical and technical information in a clear, concise manner, adapting delivery methods to diverse learner needs and environments, both on-site and virtually.
Develop as a Subject Matter Expert (SME): Continuously enhance expertise in Intuitive’s technologies along with relevant clinical applications, surgical and diagnostic procedures, design control, risk management, and usability. Serve as a key resource for internal stakeholders.
Lead Hands-On Labs: Design and execute practical lab sessions for internal-facing teams, providing team members with valuable hands-on experience to reinforce theoretical and practical knowledge.
Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with cross-functional partners— to ensure training aligns with organizational goals and product development initiatives. Contribute to program design and improvements.
Evaluate Training Effectiveness: Assess the impact of training programs through surveys, observation, and feedback. Use outcomes to refine content and delivery for increased program effectiveness.
Mentor and Coach: Provide guidance and mentorship to new and existing team members throughout onboarding and beyond, fostering competence and supporting individual development.
Facilitate Hospital Case Observations: Lead hospital case observations in real OR environments and coordinate participation in pre-clinical, surgeon, usability labs, and conference attendance for trainees.
Review and Revise Materials: Assist with the periodic review and updating of training materials, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
Stay Informed on Industry Trends: Maintain awareness of advancements in clinical technology, surgical practice, and training methodologies to incorporate best practices into education programs.
Perform additional duties as assigned or required by Manager.
Qualifications

Required Education and Training
- Minimum BS degree with experience in education and training
- 3-5 years of experience within Intuitive Surgical
Working Conditions
- This position requires up to 25% travel to facilitate training sessions at Intuitive sites globally
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
Note: There is a minimum expectation of 24 months in this role to be eligible for an opportunity to transition into another position within the organization.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience in training or educational roles
- Knowledge of adult learning principles
- Familiarity with instructional design principles and adult learning methodologies
- Experience with medical devices or in the healthcare industry is a plus.

Compensation will be based primarily on the job level at which the role is filled and the
candidate’s qualifications, consistent with applicable law.
We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
