Job Description

Primary function of Position

The manager, New Products (NPI) Supply Chain/Sourcing is a critical leadership role that leads the team that oversees supply chain operations for the launch of new products. The ideal candidate will drive operational excellence by collaborating with cross-functional teams, optimizing processes, and ensuring timely, cost-effective supply of innovative products to market.
The Manager, New Products Supply Chain, will lead end-to-end supply chain activities for new product introduction (NPI) initiatives, driving innovation, speed-to-market, and operational excellence within a highly regulated industry. This manager will oversee sourcing, procurement, and supplier management activities for new product components and assemblies.

Responsibilities include building cross-functional collaboration with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams to ensure seamless product launches and robust supply chain readiness. The ideal candidate brings strong supply chain knowledge, strategic sourcing expertise, supplier negotiations experience, and a demonstrated background in launching products within medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or other regulated industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the New Products Supply Chain team, providing guidance, development, and performance feedback.

  • Design and implement supply chain strategies for new product introductions, ensuring alignment with business goals.

  • Coordinate closely with Product Development Engineering, Supplier Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to ensure smooth product launches.

  • Develop and monitor supply chain KPIs for new products and proactively address issues to achieve targets.

  • Manage risk assessment and mitigation strategies regarding supplier selection, inventory planning, and logistics for new products.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency and responsiveness for new products.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and all relevant regulations for new product supply and distribution.

  • Communicate project timelines, risks, and mitigation actions to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Manage relationships with external partners, vendors, and suppliers to support new product launches.

  • Prepare reports and analysis on supply chain performance and identify areas for improvement.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required (Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or related discipline preferred)

  • 10+ years in supply chain management, strategic sourcing, or procurement within manufacturing (medical device, pharma, or regulated industry preferred)

  • 1-2 years managing a small team of Supply Chain FTEs.

  • Experience supporting product launches or new product introduction programs strongly desired

  • Strong supplier negotiation, supplier development, and contract management skills

  • Exceptional project management and cross-functional collaboration abilities

  • Effective communicator—able to influence and build relationships at all levels, including executive and supplier partners

  • High proficiency in data analysis, problem-solving, and supply chain systems/tools

  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments with multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (MBA, master’s in supply chain/Operations, or equivalent)

  • APICS/ISM or similar supply chain certification

  • Experience with global sourcing and supplier management

  • Working knowledge of regulatory compliance (FDA, ISO, etc.) in medical device or pharma industries

It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
