Job Description

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance Business Applications, this role is responsible for leading the technology solution design, delivery and support of key enterprise applications and related business processes that enable Intuitive’s FP&A, financial planning, finance product operations, and finance sales operations functions.

This leader will oversee the Anaplan platform for financial planning, SAP for core finance operations, and Varicent for sales performance management, ensuring these systems align with business objectives and deliver maximum value. This role requires technical depth and experience in Anaplan, SAP and Varicent, and the proven ability to become fluent in all related end-to-end financial business processes, with an eye for data governance and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate is hands-on, understands the details of their team’s responsibilities and processes. They will manage a small high-performing team of solution architects, business systems analysts and application specialists, fostering innovation, strengthening operational excellence, and maintaining strong trusted business partnerships.  This role will require engaging and communicating effectively with senior leadership and working closely with and influencing business and IT stakeholders at various levels across multiple functions to optimize application performance and business outcomes.

Additionally, this role requires experience with Financial close and forecasting processes, driving stability, performance, and data accuracy with a sense of extreme ownership. Additionally demonstrated experience with process transformation, platform ownership and technical operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Application Strategy & Ownership
    • Serve as the primary IT owner for AnaplanSAP, and Varicent solutions and platforms, developing strategic road maps, executing on annual commitments in alignment with business priorities, and managing ongoing production stability and operations in partnership with various IT teams and vendors.
    • Oversee the design, configuration, integration, and enhancement of these applications to support evolving financial, operational, and sales performance needs.
    • Stay ahead of technology trends and vendor capabilities to drive innovation. Develop, share, curate points of view on process simplification and scale to inform future roadmaps.
    • Partner closely with the functional and IT Data, Analytics and AI teams, creating strong collaboration and unity in driving towards excellence in data governance, quality, and curation in service to advanced automation capabilities in service to Finance.
  • Business Partnership & Stakeholder Management
    • Build and maintain strong trusted relationships with Finance, Product Ops Finance, and Sales Ops Finance leadership teams.
    • Collaborate closely with Senior business leaders to understand strategic goals, translate them into application initiatives, and deliver measurable results.
    • Communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities transparently to both business and IT leadership.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT applications team, fostering continuous improvement and professional growth.
    • Set clear goals, measure performance, and recognize achievements.
  • Operations & Governance
    • Operational excellence is a #1 priority for this role, requiring personal accountability, attention to technical detail, and leadership capability to establish clear KPIs and foster a sense of extreme ownership and urgency across all teams related to maintaining high quality, reliability, and stability of core processes and outcomes of monthly, quarterly and annual close, reporting and forecasting cycles.
    • Ensure high system availability, data accuracy, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Implement robust change management, release planning, and governance processes.
    • Manage vendor relationships for Anaplan, SAP, and Varicent, ensuring service quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Technical program and delivery management
    • Establish realistic prioritization, estimates, resource plans, and scope expectations for all initiatives impacting this portfolio, leveraging solid best practice processes and personal experience and knowledge. Professionally challenge optimism and enthusiasm that lacks supporting data and qualitative inputs.
    • Oversee project delivery from concept to deployment, ensuring hit rate achievement on timeline, budget and success metrics, in partnership with business counterparts and vendors.
    • Coordinate cross-functional project teams and manage dependencies across multiple platforms.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years in IT or business systems leadership roles, with proven expertise in financial planning, Sales comp and supporting product operations finance.
    • Ideally, the candidate will have experience operating at a technical Director level for 3+ years in high growth, dynamic and scaling environments
    • Strong track record of partnering with Finance organizations, including FP&A, Product Operations Finance, and Sales Operations Finance.
    • Experience leading small but highly effective teams within a complex, matrixed organization.
    • Demonstrated success engaging with senior executives, including SVPs, to influence strategic technology decisions.

 

  • Skills:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication required. Proven track record with stakeholder management / business relationship management. Comfort with in-person presentations and exceptional preparation capabilities.
    • Strategic thinking combined with hands-on application management capabilities, ability to apply contextual information, maintain objectivity, and manage conflict professionally and to impactful beneficial results.
    • Vendor management and negotiation skills.
    • Strong understanding of financial processes, reporting, and operational efficiency drivers.
    • Strong cross functional collaboration with other teams
    • Proactive mindset, strong sense of urgency, driven to action in identifying problems to ensuring successful resolution and root cause analysis for continuous improvement.
