Job Description
Primary Function:
The Vision Systems Analyst team is a part of the Core Technology Engineering (CTE) group at Intuitive. The goal of the group is to deliver the highest image quality to our surgeons for all of our daVinci robot systems. The focus is mainly on the imaging algorithms, algorithmic tuning and calibration of the endoscopes, displays, and illuminator needed to accomplish excellent image quality. We also help spec and define the light source, optics, sensor and displays used on the daVinci robotic systems as all of these components contribute to the surgical image quality.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and improve methods and algorithms used to characterize and calibrate image sensors, cameras, and illumination solutions
- Perform the image quality evaluations for new features and algorithms through experimental studies, provide direct feedback to the engineering and clinical teams
- Develop the image quality metrics, requirements and validation plans
- Work with external vendors for technology selection and iterations
- Deliver superb camera video to clinicians
- Supporting formal risk analysis and documentation for regulatory submissions
Qualifications
Skill/Job Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years experience and a Master's degree; or 3 years of experience and a PhD; or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years of imaging experience
- Experience and/or knowledge in camera sensors, optics and illumination sources
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex engineering problems
- Experience with subjective/objective image quality evaluation
- Proficient in Matlab, Python, or C++ programming
