Company Description
JC Boiler Service Ltd. is growing, and we are looking for an experienced Industrial Combustion and Boiler Service Technician to join our team in Nisku, Alberta.
This position is suited to a skilled gasfitter or service technician with hands-on experience troubleshooting industrial combustion equipment, burner management systems, and diesel- and natural-gas-fired boiler systems. The successful candidate will work primarily from our Nisku facility while also providing field service to industrial and oil-and-gas customers throughout Alberta.

Job Description
What You’ll Be Doing
- Troubleshoot, repair, commission, and tune diesel- and natural-gas-fired burner systems
- Diagnose combustion problems, ignition failures, flame-safeguard lockouts, and burner control issues
- Perform combustion analysis and adjust fuel-air ratios for safe, reliable, and efficient operation
- Test and troubleshoot switches, relays, actuators, sensors, transmitters, valves, motors, and safety interlocks
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, control diagrams, and burner sequences of operation
- Service and commission industrial steam boilers, hydronic boilers, and mobile oilfield boiler systems
- Support boiler inspections, repairs, recertifications, and fire testing at our Nisku facility
- Complete preventative maintenance and identify equipment or safety concerns before failures occur
- Prepare clear service reports and communicate findings and repair recommendations to customers
- Respond to scheduled service work and participate in an on-call rotation
- Travel to customer sites throughout Alberta, generally for day trips, with occasional overnight stays
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Valid Alberta Journeyperson Gasfitter Class B certification
- Relevant experience in the Alberta oil-and-gas or industrial service industry
- Hands-on experience servicing diesel- and natural-gas-fired burners
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot industrial combustion and flame-safeguard systems
- Working knowledge of electrical controls and safe electrical troubleshooting practices
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a systematic approach to diagnostics
- Ability to work independently in both shop and field environments
- Valid driver’s licence with an acceptable driving record
- Willingness to travel and participate in an on-call rotation
Preferred Qualifications
Any of the following would be considered a strong asset:
- Alberta Gasfitter Class A certification
- Journeyperson or apprentice certification in electrical, instrumentation, HVAC/refrigeration, steamfitting/pipefitting, or a related trade
- HVAC, building-automation, or industrial-controls experience
- Experience with PLCs, burner management systems, VFDs, modulating controls, and combustion analyzers
- Experience with high-pressure steam boilers and mobile oilfield boiler equipment
- Experience commissioning new or repaired combustion systems
- Familiarity with applicable gas, electrical, boiler, and pressure-equipment requirements
Equipment Experience
Experience with any of the following manufacturers or systems would be an asset:
- Riello
- Power Flame
- Beckett
- Fireye
- Honeywell
- Siemens
- Cleaver-Brooks
- Miura
- Saskatoon Boiler
- Pendell Boiler
Equivalent experience with other industrial burner, boiler, flame-safeguard, or combustion-control equipment is welcome.
Additional Information
Work Schedule and Travel
- Regular weekday schedule based from our Nisku facility
- Field travel throughout Alberta, with most assignments completed as day trips
- Occasional overnight stays
- Participation in an on-call rotation
- Approximately one to two unscheduled service callouts per week, depending on customer demand and rotation coverage
- Overtime paid after eight hours per day or 44 hours per week
