Job Description

Role

The Campus Operations Supervisor oversees the facilities management function and the campus security function of the university. Under the management direction of the Director of University Affairs, the Facilities Manager plans develops, and manages the following functional areas:

  • Facilities Management
  • Facilities Operations: Shipping & Receiving, Inventory Management, Campus Supplies, Space Management, Traffic Demand, Construction, Event & Space Management, and Special Projects
  • Facilities Maintenance: Keys Maintenance, Custodial Services, Vehicle Maintenance, HVAC Operations and Maintenance, Campus and Parking Lot Maintenance, Pest Control, and Landlord & Property Management
  • Campus Security
  • Access Control Administration, Security – Contract, Safety Equipment Maintenances, CCTV & Alarm System, First Aid, and Parking Administration

 

Responsibilities

  • Execute departmental operational plan; monitor and control progress and expenses against the operational plan
  • Monitor and evaluate facility conditions
  • Coordinate space usage to maximize room utilization throughout the campus between meetings, classes, and special events
  • Manage construction and renovation projects
  • Manage and oversee of all contract services, contracts associated with building and infrastructure (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, etc.)
  • Manage all maintenance and custodial operations of the campus in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and university policies and procedures
  • Be the primary point of contact between ITU and the property management company, maintenance contractors, and facility service vendors for all contracted projects and services
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders and the university community on projects, maintenance schedule, etc.
  • Proactively examine supply and utility usage to determine cost-cutting measures and potential sustainability improvements
  • Investigate and develop new ways of service delivery working collaboratively with colleagues as required
  • Supervise work and vacation schedules for all custodial and maintenance personnel, including student assistants
  • Supervise the University’s third-party security vendor to provide all physical security support for the University campus and monitor all duties assigned to the third party security team
  • Monitor surveillance system, campus access control system, door alarm system, and other systems in the security control office
  • Motivate and supervise employees, and evaluate job performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Meticulous and able to multi-task
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively 
  • An excellent communicator and team-builder who can work well across departments, mentor others, and foster a positive culture in a high-intensity environment
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to set priorities while juggling multiple responsibilities and tasks
  • A quick learner who is flexible and able to accommodate the needs of a rapidly evolving organization
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Demonstrate understanding of non-profit university environment, mission, values, and overall function
