General Practitioner (Physician)
- Full-time
Company Description
Take your medical expertise beyond the traditional clinical setting with an international assignment on Diego Garcia, where you'll deliver primary, occupational, and urgent medical care in a remote island healthcare environment.
At International SOS Government Medical Services, you'll support healthcare programs that improve patient care and operational readiness across the U.S. and internationally. Founded in 1984, International SOS operates in more than 90 countries, delivering healthcare, medical assistance, emergency response, and workforce support services worldwide.
Job Description
You will assess and treat acute illness and injury, manage chronic conditions within available capabilities, and support the health of personnel through occupational medical examinations and preventive services. The practice includes medical screening, diagnostic testing, fitness-for-duty evaluations, and coordinated stabilization or transfer when specialty or higher-level care is needed. You will work alongside nurses, emergency medical personnel, and other clinicians while following the established scope of practice and medical authority requirements.
The patient population includes personnel receiving initial and periodic medical assessments as well as those presenting with routine or urgent health concerns. Your practice will touch occupational screening, work restrictions, medical clearance documentation, and coordination of laboratory testing. You will also support prevention through immunizations, health education, and identification of potential communicable-disease concerns. If a patient requires a service not available at the facility, you will help determine the next clinical step and coordinate the relevant consultation, referral, or medical evacuation. Accurate clinical records and collaboration with authorized medical authorities support continuity across each of these activities.
