Job Description
Support referral coordination, patient access and scheduling support, and healthcare documentation workflows within a centralized healthcare support environment serving beneficiaries across the Puget Sound Military Health System. Working alongside referral coordinators, appointing teams, and clinical staff, this Referral Coordinator role helps ensure specialty care documentation, referral tracking, and electronic health record workflows remain organized, accurate, and timely.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a structured healthcare operations environment with established workflows, collaborative support teams, and technology-enabled processes that help maintain continuity of care and patient access across the healthcare system.
Location: Remote – Candidate must reside within 40 miles of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week (Pacific Time Zone schedule)
Key Responsibilities
- Support referral tracking, specialty care coordination, and documentation workflows within the electronic health record system
- Process and upload Clear and Legible Reports (CLRs) while helping maintain accurate referral closure and provider notification processes
- Monitor referral activity, including STAT, urgent, and priority cases, to support continuity of patient care
- Coordinate outbound patient communications related to appointment reminders, specialty care coordination, follow-up documentation requests, and scheduling support activities
- Collaborate with appointing, referral, and operational support teams to help maintain workflow accuracy, service quality, and reporting consistency
- Assist with operational reporting and quality monitoring activities that support healthcare access and administrative performance standards
- Support follow-up documentation retrieval and referral record coordination across specialty care workflows
Qualifications
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience working with electronic health records and standard office software applications
- Ability to communicate professionally with patients, clinical staff, and operational teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Ability to work remotely from a secure private workspace using a wired internet connection that meets company requirements
- Ability to obtain facility access clearance and maintain Common Access Card (CAC) eligibility
Preferred
- Healthcare administrative, referral coordination, patient access, or medical support experience
- Prior experience in centralized scheduling, referral coordination, or healthcare call center environments
- Familiarity with healthcare documentation workflows and specialty care coordination processes
- Experience supporting military, government, or managed healthcare operations
