Job Description

This position is still at the proposal stage and is awaiting award.

This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program.  The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide services outlined below: 

International SOS is looking for an individual who is an experienced Radiation Therapist or Therapeutic Technologist to administer targeted radiation treatments to patients with cancer and other diseases, ensuring precise delivery and monitoring of therapy to achieve optimal outcomes. They work closely with oncologists and medical physicists to develop and implement individualized treatment plans by providing compassionate patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer radiation therapy to patients according to the prescribed treatment plan ensuring precise and accurate delivery. 
  • Position patients’ correctly on the treatment table to target the radiation dose to the exact area, using immobilization devices when necessary. 
  • Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators, to ensure it functions correctly and safely. 
  • Monitor patients during treatment sessions, observing for any adverse reactions and making adjustments as needed. 
  • Maintain detailed records of treatment sessions, including doses administered, patient responses, and any issues encountered. 
  • Work closely with oncologists, medical physicists, and other healthcare professionals to develop an adjust treatment plans. 
  • Provide information and support to patients and their families about treatment progress, potential side effects, and aftercare. 
  • Perform regular quality assurance checks on radiation therapy equipment to ensure accuracy and safety. 
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to protect patients, staff, and yourself from unnecessary radiation exposure. 
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in radiation therapy techniques and technologies through ongoing education and professional development.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:  

  • Certification and/or state licensure as required in areas serviced. 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 

Education Required: 

  • Graduate from a qualifying educational program for radiography or radiation therapy technology from an accredited college University Hospital, medical school or post-secondary technical or vocational school. Program must have been accredited at the time of education or training by Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals or by the American Osteopathic Association. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. 
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. 
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate. 
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. 
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance. 

Additional Information

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data. 

Compensation|  Min: $52hr        Max: $68hr
