Job Description

The Registered Nurse in this position will represent International SOS and will provide comprehensive health services to DOS, DOD, and contractor personnel stationed in Iraq. Registered Nurses will use a holistic approach to care for the patients requiring acute medical or surgical interventions. Nurses will be accountable clinically for ensuring nursing care compliance with accepted standards of care and clinical practice. Nurses will use clinical judgment in assessing, planning, implementing, documenting, and evaluating patient care in variety of settings where life-threatening disease or injury requires close monitoring and at times quick intervention.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' physical and mental health status. 
  • Collect and analyse patient histories, vital signs, and diagnostic information. 
  • Develop individualized care plans based on patient assessments and healthcare needs. 
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care. 
  • Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as ordered by physicians. 
  • Provide direct patient care, including wound care, IV therapy, and monitoring of vital signs. 
  • Educate patients about health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies. 
  • Offer emotional support and counselling to patients and their families during difficult times. 
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting care provided and patient responses. 
  • Maintain compliance with all project site procedures, standards, and continuing educational and mandatory training requirements. 
  • The role may involve on-call hours and requires the ability to respond to emergencies. 
  • Other duties as required 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:  

  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.   
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). 
  • 2+ years’ experience, 6 months’ experience within the past year, experience abroad or in austere environment preferred. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).  
  • Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred. 

Education Required

  • Associates, Bachelor or Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree - Candidates must be a graduate of a school of nursing that was approved and/or accredited by the appropriate State agency and accredited by either the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) at the time the program was completed.  

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must meet pre-deployment physical requirements  
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. 
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting to 25 lbs. 

Other Special Qualifications

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.   
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance, specifically a MRPT. Applicants with current clearances are preferred. 
  • Must be able to relocate to Iraq including a valid US passport is required and must be in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay in Iraq.

Compensation | Min: 75,000  Max: 105,000

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
