Job Description

This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program.  The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide services outlined below: 

International SOS is looking for an individual who is an experienced Counseling Psychologist to care for VA members and their families. The Counseling Psychologist focuses on helping individuals cope with emotional, social, and developmental issues by providing therapy and support. They use various therapeutic techniques to promote personal growth, improve mental health, and enhance well-being. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual and group therapy sessions to address a variety of mental health issues. 
  • Assess and diagnose psychological disorders using interviews, observations, and psychological tests. 
  • Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to the needs of clients. 
  • Provide crisis intervention and support to clients in distress. 
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to client care. 
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with ethical and legal standards. 
  • Educate clients and their families about mental health issues and treatment options. 
  • Stay informed about the latest research and best practices in psychology and counseling. 
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge. 
  • Engage in community outreach and wellness programs to promote mental health awareness.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements/Certifications:  

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 
  • Certification by relevant professional organizations, such as the American Psychological Association (APA), may be preferred. 

Education Required: 

  • Satisfactory completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to counseling psychology. 
  • A bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field. 
  • A master's degree in counseling psychology or a closely related discipline. 
  • A doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in psychology with a focus on counseling. 
  • State licensure as a psychologist. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. 
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. 
  • May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate. 
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required. 
  • Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data. 

Compensation|  Min: $82hr        Max: $118hr
