Job Description
This position is contingent upon award of contract.
This position will support the US Department of Veterans Affairs Critical Staffing Program. The person in this position will represent International SOS and provide the services outlined below.
International SOS is looking for an individual who is an experienced Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) to provide care for VA members and their families. A Dialysis RN provides specialized care to patients undergoing dialysis treatment for kidney failure, monitoring their vital signs and managing complications during the procedure. They educate patients about their condition and treatment options while collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patients' vital signs and overall health during dialysis sessions.
- Initiate and terminate dialysis treatments safely and effectively.
- Manage and troubleshoot dialysis machines and equipment.
- Administer medications and manage fluid balance as prescribed.
- Educate patients and families about dialysis procedures and kidney disease management.
- Collaborate with nephrologists and healthcare team members for treatment planning.
- Document patient care, treatment responses, and any adverse events accurately.
- Provide support and counseling to patients coping with chronic illness.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and safety standards.
- Participate in ongoing education and training related to dialysis care and advancements in nephrology.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements/Certifications:
- Three (3) years current experience providing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
- Current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e. Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia.
- National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) to obtain a nursing license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Education Required:
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Physical Requirements:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications:
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
- Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.
