Job Description

The Security Specialist is responsible for the day to day delivery of high-quality written and verbal travel security briefings on request from travelers, international assignees and corporate security managers. The Security Specialist will provide travel security advice to clients and will support client and RSC platform situational awareness by scanning for, reporting and escalating developing travel security issues.

The countries covered from the Dubai RSC are across the Middle East, North, East and Southern Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

 

Key Responsibilities 

Client Support:

  • Deliver critical components of the 24 hour operation – monitoring client risk and advising on travel safety and security
  • Set up, coordinate and monitor tracking tasks using GPS and communication with clients travelling complex working  environments
  • Maintain awareness of the current security environment through research including our Security Online reports and other open sources
  • Delivery of verbal and written travel security briefs
  • Scan for, report and escalate security or disruption issues affecting business travellers in line with global reporting thresholds and guidance from the RSCs
  • Support to consultancy tasks as required
  • On occasion and as required travel to countries of responsibility to assess current situation, local provider capabilities and expanding the existing network of contacts to further support clients

Personal Development:

  • Build thorough understanding of all current events affecting regional / global business travel and learn the approach to providing written and verbal travel advice and briefs to clients
  • To become fully conversant with and follow all systems and procedures required by the RSM - Ops
 

Qualifications

Required Skills and Knowledge (Brief description of technical knowledge or skills needed to perform the job)

  • International  experience (work and personal)
  • Additional language beyond fluent English. Arabic (all dialects), Chinese, Turkish, Urdu, Swahili, Russian, German , French and Japanese preferred
  • Interest in international affairs and the global security environment
  • Knowledge of the political and security issues in particular regions
  • Ability to explain complex situations to a non-expert
  • Liaison and communication skills and ability to work across cultures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office Suite and other applications
  • Willingness to work outside of normal duty hours, in support of team operations, particularly in time of crisis or emergency

Qualifications (Brief description of the educational background needed to perform the job)

  • Degree-level qualification in politics, international relations or related subject, or equivalent work experience
  • Post-graduate qualification in politics, international relations or elated subject or equivalent work experience

Required Languages 

  • Fluent English (spoken and written)
  • Additional second language proficiency (Arabic (all dialects), Chinese,  Turkish, Russian, Swahili, Urdu, Japanese, German, French all desirable)
  • Language proficiency in other regional languages is advantageous
