Job Description

STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: COO 

The Director of Finance is responsible for all finance and accounting activity including maintaining accurate records in the general ledger, producing monthly payroll, assisting the COO with creating monthly financial statements, reconciling bank accounts, processing accounts payable, recording customer invoices, and tracking accounts receivable.  This position also works closely with the COO to manage cash flow, and provide reporting in the accounting system for senior management.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete all accounting functions including journal entries for both accounts payable, accounts receivable, accruals and other day to day accounting activities
  • Is responsible for setting up monthly payroll in ADP to be reviewed by COO before initiation, as well as journaling monthly payroll
  • Work closely with HR to ensure smooth on-boarding of new hires
  • Completes monthly cash reconciliation to organization’s bank accounts and general ledger
  • Assures that all financial statements are accurate and complete on a monthly basis
  • Serves as the lead for all external audit functions and 990 creation, including preparing YE financials for review, providing external auditors with clean and accurate financial information and documentation throughout audit process
  • In collaboration with COO responsible for continuous improvement of financials reporting, dashboards, account structures, and integrations 
  • Collaborate with HR to accurately track payroll deductions
  • Responsible for maintaining various state and international registrations
  • Works closely with the COO to manage cash flow and interbank transfers between accounts.
  • Manage credit card payments and reconciliations
  • Coordinate with business line leaders to submit and manage invoices on client third party payment platforms
     

Qualifications

  • A passion for Living Future’s mission. Enthusiasm for serving a dynamic, environmental organization.
  • Strong accounting background with a strong preference for experience with Sage Intacct, and ADP payroll software, Salesforce, MS Excel, along with the ability to learn new software applications  
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience, preferably in nonprofit/fund accounting
  • Experience building out dashboards in Sage Intacct, or other financial software or ERP systems strongly preferred
  • Experience with audits and 990 preparation strongly preferred
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal direction, within established procedures
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of people representing different organizations, backgrounds and experiences.

The salary range for this position is $82,343 to $89,987 annually and is supplemented by Living Future’s generous benefits package that includes employer-paid health, dental and vision insurance for employees and dependents as well as employee life insurance, short-term disability, and a 403(b) retirement plan. Annual time off benefits include three weeks of paid annual leave, 12 days of sick leave, and paid volunteer time. 

Living Future offers a collaborative, team-oriented and mission-driven remote workplace. We offer a $50/month stipend to offset home internet costs.
